Pakenham Tips & Previews, Thursday 28th April

Back at Pakenham for Thursday night racing sees the BetDeluxe team find all the best bets ahead of the eight-race card with the best coming up in race five.

Pakenham night racing means the BetDeluxe team is all hands on deck for eight races.

The best bet comes up in race five on the program with a sprinter who is ready to back into winning form.

Pakenham race 2

#5 triumphantly

Saab Hasan saddles up his three-year-old gelding in preparation for a rise to the mile in maiden grade.

Gets the winkers on as well to really switch him on and keep his eyes on the prize when he dashes to the lead.

Racing on the quick back-up after he finished second behind Prince of Rome at Werribee over 1400 metres, which is a track distance usually favouring on-pacers.

He came from off the pace to run on and will be much versed by racing on a track with a longer straight like Pakenham in order to wind up his finishing burst.

Think he can settle a bit handier to the speed and is clearly the one to beat.

Suggested Bet: Triumphantly win at $2.50

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 5 & 6

pakenham race 3

#8 Yael's delight

Yael’s Delight will definitely appreciate getting up to 1400 metres based off what we have seen at her first two runs to date.

She has raced over 1000 metres and 1100 metres, settled on the speed, but just does not have the zip to keep with those sprinting types.

What she does have now, is the stamina and early speed to take full control of this race out in the lead.

Big tick with the winkers being applied for a race that is clear a target for her.

She is poised to run a new peak rating and will likely be the one to run down in the home straight.

Suggested Bet: Yael’s Delight win at $4.6

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 8 & 1

pakenham race 5

#8 pouvoir de soie

Pouvoir De Soie has resumed in great style through his first two runs this campaign with a win first-up and a runner-up finish when second-up last start.

He raced over 1200 metres at Pakenham a fortnight ago and ran good time for BM-58 grade in 1.11.62.

He has to snag back to the rear half of the field after drawing, so to run strong time having conceded ground is a good sign.

Returning to this track and distance with almost certain improvement to come by drawing a better barrier, has him in this race up to his ears.

The market is surely going to hone in on his track & distance from last start and we expect him to start much shorter than his current quote.

Going up in grade has seen him tumble in the weights from 61kgs last start to 56kgs.

The one to beat and the best of the night.

Suggested Bet: Pouvoir De Soie each-way at $5.5 the win and $2.05 the place.

pakenham race 8

#11 vidiano

Vidiano has been a down on form looking at her finishing positions over the last few starts.

She has, however, been racing in city grade and comes back to the provincials and her home track for this race.

In all probability, she has just been outclassed at her last few races and this is likely going to be the grade she will be competitive in for the time being.

Do not mind the drop back to 1400 metres with the blinkers going on for the first time.

There does look to be a solid speed out in front and she can settle off the speed to come at the them later in the race.

Will have the long Pakenham straight to wind up her finish.

Suggested Bet: Vidiano each-way at $8.5 the win and $2.70 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 7, 9, 11
