Sale Tips & Previews, Wednesday 27th April

The main plays and selections from Wednesday's meeting at Sale.

A heap of first starters are on the verge of making their race debuts, which has taken the attention for this competitive eight-race card at Sale.

All the best bets and selections from the team have been circled on the form guide.

Sale race 1

#3 Lethal Thoughts

Lethal Thoughts is a three-year-old colt put together by the Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace stable.

With two jump outs next to his name, this colt is well versed to be running a big race on debut over 1200 metres.

He showed elevation from his first to second jump out, and it was his second which really caught the eye.

His jump out jockey did not ask him to do much until the final 250 metres, where he was slightly let off the chain and let down nicely to sprint into second place.

Get the inkling the stable has left plenty in reserve for race day and there is early money around for him which gives us added confidence.

Suggested Bet: Lethal Thoughts win at $3.4

Sale race 2

#4 chargenlikapluma

Chargenlikapluma got it all wrong in his debut at Bairnsdale where absolutely nothing went right for him.

After bounding towards the lead and looking some sort of winning hope, he laid out terribly and put himself out of the race.

He has since had a heap of gear changes and has trialled up with much better manners than what we saw on debut.

At such a huge price we have to have a play given we are yet to really see what this horse has to offer.

If he can race in a much more professional manner and find his way to the lead, he could very well run a bold race out in front.

Suggested Bet: Chargenlikapluma each-way at $31 the win and $4.8 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 4 & 7

sale race 5

#9 delightful hustler

Delightful Hustler seems ready to improve based on her last few runs.

Drawing barrier one has not exactly been to her benefit over the last few starts having been bailed away without room to really build up her revs until daylight in the straight.

She is not really a push-button acceleration type of horse and getting up to a 1400-metre race in a smallish field should hopefully see her settle behind the leaders and get the space she need to stride out properly.

Her record at 1400 metres reads nine starts for four wins and a place.

Happy to be with her each-way at the price.

Suggested Bet: Delightful Hustler each-way at $11 the win and $3.3 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 4, 8, 9

sale race 8

#2 cheryl's lad

Cheryl’s Lad has returned with great aplomb having won when resuming and finishing third over the mile at Pakenham.

He was unlikely not ready to run strongly at the mile given he was only second up, so there should definitely be some room for elevation left in the locker.

He is still lightly-race horse for a four-year-old gelding having only had seven career races.

So, he still has freshness in the legs compared to a host of rivals in this race.

Getting up to 1717 metres looks ideal for him and his fitness will now be up to the mark.

Suggested Bet: Cheryl’s Lad win at $4
