gws vs. gold coast

april 2nd 4:35pm

Greater Western Sydney will look to open its account when it hosts the Gold Coast Suns at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday.

The Giants will be without key defender Phil Davis who suffered a serious hamstring in the disappointing loss to Richmond last week.

Gold Coast, meanwhile, seems to have shown some sort of improvement in the off-season and pushed the Demons all the way in Round 2.

Matt Rowell and Touk Miller will be a headache for a Giants midfield which has really lacked a killer blow in the first two weeks.

Suns to cover the line.

Suggested Bets: Gold Coast +11.5 at $1.90

geelong vs. collingwood

april 2nd 7:25pm

A 3-0 start is on the cards for Collingwood when it faces Geelong at the MCG in a Saturday night blockbuster.

The Pies battered Adelaide at the MCG last week as they cruised to a 2-0 record, while the Cats were no match for Sydney.

Geelong will regain veteran Shaun Higgins to add a bit a polish with ball in hand and key defender Sam De Koning is back to add some much needed structure to the Cats backline.

Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard returns from suspension and he will be an integral part in the rebound and hustle across the half-back line.

Think the Cats have much more elevation to come off what they did in Round 2 and can easily bounce back here.

Suggested Bet: Geelong -14.5 at $1.85

brisbane vs. north melbourne

april 2nd 8:00pm

After beating up on a seriously depleted West Coast outfit, North Melbourne travels up North to battle Brisbane at the Gabba.

This will be a much harder test than what the Roos faced last week with the Lions coming off a gritty win against Essendon last week.

Brisbane rectified a slow start with a strong second half to runaway with a 22-point victory.

Mitch Robinson returns to add some grunt into the Lions midfield after missing out on the win.

With North Melbourne’s effort last week being far from convincing, the Lions hold all the aces here on their home deck.

Suggested Bet: Brisbane -42.5 at $1.90

carlton vs. hawthorn

april 3rd 1:10pm

Carlton and Hawthorn have the chance to go 3-0 when they go head to head at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.

With forecast rain set for this clash, the contest and territory will be a pivotal factor in this game.

The Blues have a brutally tough midfield and some hardened bodies capable of dominating the contested possessions in this game.

For all of Hawthorn’s brilliant work in their 64-point smacking of Port Adelaide, its midfield was walloped based on pure numbers.

An in-form Carlton should prove harder to beat than an underdone Port team.

The money has really come for Hawthorn at line, but the value now lies with the Blue Baggers.

Suggested Bet: Carlton -8.5 at $1.90

st kilda vs. richmond

april 3rd 4:20pm

There are some huge ins for Richmond and St Kilda when they get set to do battle under the roof and flashing lights of Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

Co-captain Dylan Grimes and Jack Riewoldt return for Richmond, while Dougal Howard and Patrick Ryder are set to don the Saints guernsey.

Both teams get their season accounts off the mark with Round 2 wins despite being outsiders in their respective games.

There was a lot to like about the way Richmond handled a lacklustre Giants outfit and the same can be said for the Saints win against Fremantle.

Structurally, the Tigers are going to be much harder to break down than the Dockers, so the Saints will need the likes of Max King and Jack Higgins to prove spark in the forward line.

In what is set to be a close game, we are going to side with Richmond… just.

Suggested Bet: Richmond head to head at $1.87
