A huge weekend of A-League greets us as the BetDeluxe team finds all the best bets.
The action begins with Western United taking on Central Coast.
western united vs. central coast mariners
april 2nd 2:05pm
Western United has the perfect opportunity to level up on points with Melbourne City when it hosts Central Coast.
United trails league-leader City by three points but does have two games in hand and will be buoyant after scoring a 3-2 win over Brisbane last weekend.
Central Coast, meanwhile, made it two consecutive wins after battering Adelaide United 3-0 and taking another stop closer to the top six.
It will likely be a case of contrasting styles here with Western United all but certain to get right on the front foot and Central Coast happy to sit back, defend and hit on the counter.
The Mariners did knock off Western United 2-0 the last time these teams, which late last season.
In what is the first time these teams meet in the 2021/22 season, the Mariners definitely look the value.
Prediction: Western United 1 Central Coast Mariners 2
Suggested Bet: Central Coast Mariners head to head at $3.50
wellington phoenix vs. melbourne city
april 2nd 5:05pm
Melbourne City takes it talents on a flight up to Sydney when it prepares to face Wellington Phoenix in Cronulla on Saturday.
Wellington will prove no easy beat having won its last two games to sit fourth on table thanks to some fine goal-scoring form from Ben Waine.
City’s defence will have to be wary of the 20-year-old Phoenix striker who has looked dangerous over the last month.
A nine-game undefeated run has ensured City remain at the top of the A-League table and it is well fancied as a $1.72 pop in this match.
This game could go either way, but it is hard to split.
Draw.
Prediction: Wellington Phoenix 1 Melbourne City 1
Suggested Bet: Draw at $3.90
adelaide united vs. melbourne victory
april 2nd 7:45pm
The original A-League rivalry resumes for another chapter when Adelaide United welcomes Melbourne Victory to Coopers Stadium on Saturday night.
Victory will have fond memories of this venue from earlier this season after sealing a 2-1 win back on December 11.
Since then, United has come through a trough to sit third on the table, but will need to regather itself after being thumped 3-0 by Central Coast last weekend.
United will be without Joe Gauci who was sent off in the loss and will have to rely on 17-year-old shot stopper Steven Hall.
How the youngster deals with the awe of a huge rivalry is yet to be seen.
Victory will be keen to fire off as many shots on target as possible, so we could be in for a goal fest.
Going with the visitors to end their run of four consecutive parities.
Prediction: Adelaide United 2 Melbourne 3
Suggested Bet: Melbourne Victory head to head at $2.30
sydney fc vs. western sydney wanderers
april 2nd 7:45pm
We get set for another derby, this time it is the Sydney version when Sydney FC takes on next-door neighbour Western Sydney Wanderers in the Sydney Derby from Nestrata Jubilee Stadium.
Both teams played out draws in their most recent A-League fixtures with Sydney coming from 2-0 down to pinch a point against Macarthur with a 2-2 result, while Western Sydney scored at the death to take home a 1-1 against Melbourne Victory.
Inconsistent would be the word to describe the form of both teams this season.
Neither has really been able to get up a head of steam, but it is Sydney being sent out as the odds-on favourite.
However, the Wanderers did knock off the Sky Blues back in March with a 2-0 win, so there has to be some credence given to Mark Rudan’s men.
Prediction: Sydney FC 1 Western Sydney 2
Suggested Bet: Western Sydney head to head at $3.90
brisbane roar vs. newcastle jets
april 3rd 5:05pm
A battle between two basement A-League clubs ensues when Brisbane Roar takes on Newcastle Jets at Moreton Daily Stadium on Sunday.
Roar has lost its last three games and has looked lost defensively, while Newcastle has gone undefeated in its last three.
The Jets were stiff not to win against Perth Glory last weekend after dominating possession and shots on goal, but did not have a finishing product in a 0-0 draw.
Newcastle boasts a 2-1 win over Roar this season, but it was on its home deck and travelling up to Brisbane will be a different kettle of fish no matter how poor the Roar is travelling.
It might be a bit risky, but Roar, despite losing 3-2, did play a cracker against Western United when it last played at home.
Going to back Brisbane to bounce back at home.
Prediction: Brisbane Roar 1 Newcastle Jets 0
Suggested Bet: Brisbane Roar head to head at $2.20
macarthur fc vs. perth glory
april 3rd 7:20pm
Cellar dweller Perth Glory makes the trek to Campbelltown Sports Stadium for a battle against Macarthur FC.
It has been an ugly season for the Glory thus far with marquee signing Daniel Sturridge having zero to little impact on the field due to injury and form.
With Bruno Fornaroli and Sturrdige up front, it was expected Glory would at least make finals, but that looks miles away as the Bulls are ready to bounce back into winning form.
The Bulls fought out a 2-2 mid-week draw against Sydney FC, and arguably should have won after being 2-0 early in the piece.
Backing the Bulls to nab the three points here.
Prediction: Macarthur FC 2 Perth Glory 1
Suggested Bet: Macarthur FC head to head at $1.80
