Mornington Tips & Previews, Saturday 26th March

Mornington Cup Day means a big one for the Peninsula with a nine-race program filling up a big Saturday worth of best bets.

Mornington Cup Day sees the BetDeluxe racing team go through the nine-race card at Mornington for Saturday racing.

The best bets on the program are in and there is a launch job in the Mornington Guineas we are super confident will not be run down.

#6 DO It la

Do It La had to do it the tough way at Flemington when making a sharp rise in grade from a Ballarat maiden victory to the Group 2 Sires Produce.

Love the way she fought on doggedly late in the race after being asked to sit outside the leader for the whole way.

She was kicking on hard strongly and will definitely appreciate the smaller field, easier race and a track that genuinely favors on pacers like Mornington.

Has a big starting price advantage over Yaki Ishi and maps to be well ahead of him in the run.

Suggested Bet: Do It La win at $2

Suggsted Exotic: Exacta 7 & 1

#6 dadoozdart

Having a good each-way whack at Dadoozdart.

The six-year-old stayer from the Hawkes stable has always promised a lot as an import from Great Britain but has failed to deliver on the hype since arriving.

He might have just had the penny drop moment after a nice run in the Canberra Cup last start.

He has a significant starting price advantage over Sacramento and gets a favourable map here where can he stalk the leaders in the run.

Great booking with Jye Mcneil to ride and it gives us confidence he can at least run in the top two.

Suggested Bet: Dadoozdart each-way at $8 the win and $3.3 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 6

mornington race 7

#2 signore fox

The Astrologist would be the on-top selection in this race, but he is likely to be scratched for the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.

With that in mind, Signore Fox looms as the value runner in this race.

The Peter & Paul Snowden gelding has been plugging away in Sydney for some time now and has been doing a solid job of it without winning.

He comes down to Melbourne with a strong first-up record reading three wins from seven attempts and gets the services of the ‘GOAT’ in Damien Oliver.

His trials leading in have shown us signs he will be screwed down enough to run a rating capable of winning this race.

Suggested Bet: Signore Fox each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.35 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 5, 9

mornington race 8

#12 ancient girl

Ancient Girl scored a blistering win in the Morphettville Guineas last start and can easily transfer that form into a Mornington Guineas win.

What stands out for her here is the ability to jump cleanly, find the front and just keep on running.

She burnt the candle at both ends at Morphettville and it was the win of a very smart horse.

Wide barrier is of no concern here as Jye Mcneil will probe forward from the gate and look for the lead.

If she shows any sign of improvement in the yard from her last start, this will be another procession.

Suggested Bet: Ancient Girl win at $2.50
