Ascot Tips & Previews, Saturday 26th March

The WA Oaks is the headline event at Ascot on Saturday as the BetDeluxe racing experts find all the best bets and tips for a big card over in the Wild West!

Saturday racing at Ascot means nine races of jubilation and angst as we get set for the running of the WA Oaks.

The BetDeluxe team goes through all the best bets and selections from the Wild West with a progressive miler looking like one of the bets of the day.

Ascot race 4

#10 butter bash

Sustained speed is the name of the game of Butter Bash after he crushed his rivals at Ascot in a Class 3 mile race last Wednesday.

He rocks up at Ascot again, this time, in an attempt to make the progression to Saturday metro class.

He has a very strong platform of fitness that he has been building since his first-up run and his win last start really showed us what he is made of.

Kristy Bennett allowed him to high ball out in front and he never looked in danger.

Adopting similar tactics here is what will win him the race and he only has to carry 52kgs.

Not sure how they beat him if he gets the lead on his own terms as predicted here.

Suggested Bet: Butter Bash win at $2.45

ascot race 6

#9 mood swings

Think we have found good each-way play in race six in the form of Mood Swings.

Panzdown, the favourite for the race, looks vulnerable stepping up to 1200 metes, whereas Mood Swings has a good last start win over the distance.

He gets the services of the new star in the West Australian riding ranks in Clint Johntson-Porter and should be able to tag the back of the leaders from barrier six.

Johnston-Porter could ride a broomstick to victory at the moment and his momentum is infectious.

Suggested Bet: Mood Swings each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.05 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 9

ascot race 7

#10 alaskan god

Alaskan God has a picket fence of wins next to his name this campaign and just keeps going from strength to strength.

There was a slight query on his form heading into his last start – which was his first run in a genuine Saturday race – but he answered the critics with aplomb.

After drifting heavily in the market, he smashed his rivals by just over three lengths and has set himself up beautifully for this step up to 2200 metres.

The way he charged through the line a fortnight ago was the sign of a horse who is loving his racing and will deal with the rise in distance without qualms.

Gets the gun run from barrier five and will be hard to hold out.

Suggested Bet: Alaskan God win at $2.90

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 5, 10

ascot race 8

#1 Constant Dreaming

Not a massive fan of tipping odds-on favourite in the staying races, but Constant Dreaming is too good of form to be ignoring here.

Being a filly by Blackfriars, she would have always been looking for 2000 metres and beyond.

Since making the step to these distances, she has proven her worth big time.

She won the lead-up event for the WA Oaks as a $1.90 favourite and we think there is another elevation.

It was her ever attempt beyond 2000 metres and her stamina really came to the fore.

Clint Johnston-Porter retains the ride and he will put her in a lovely spot, get her to sleep and come with the winning run.

Suggested Bet: Constant Dreaming win at $1.75
