Tancred Stakes Day Tips & Previews, Saturday 26th March

The BetDeluxe crew finds all the mail and best bets for Tancred Stakes Day at Rosehill.

With Rosehill expecting a deluge of rain on Saturday morning, we are almost certain to be racing on a wet track again.

The best bets and selections will centre around horses who handle the wet going and have race fitness on their side.

rosehill race 1

#7 lord heron

Lord Heron did a fantastic job to nearly lead all the way last start when rising from 1200 metres to 1500 metres.

What the made run even brave was the fact he had to do it in heavy conditions without a strong fitness base.

He is now fourth-up and will have come in beautifully from that last start effort.

Jason Collett takes the ride and he will bounding towards the lead.

Suggested Bet: Lord Heron at $6.5 the win and $2.20 the place.

Confidence Rating: 5/10

rosehill race 2

#10 moko

Moko has punched away through Saturday two-year-old stakes races at Caulfield and Flemington.

She has been building towards taking a step past the sprinting distances and she now finds 1400 metres for the first time.

It looks a distance that will suit her running style.

Should be ready to run a big race.

Suggested Bet: Moko each-way at $7.5 the win and $2.25 the place.

Confidence Rating 6/10

rosehill race 3

#13 polly grey

Gets in so well at the weights for this race and draws the perfect barrier.

Those are two factors Chris Waller always ensures his horses are under when running their absolute best.

She was outclassed in the Coolmore Classic a fortnight ago and strikes this much easier race.

Going up to 2000 metres is where she does her best racing.

Incredible to think she only has to carry 53kgs.

Suggested Bet: Polly Grey each-way at $6 the win and $2.25 the place.

Confidence Rating: 7.5/10

rosehill race 4

#4 maurice's medad

Maurice’s Medad brings in some very strong form for his first ever effort over 2000 meters.

He ran a super race in the Australia Guineas behind star staying prospect Hitotsu.

He is now looking like a horse who is asking for 2000 metres and Bjorn Baker seems to have timed this galloper’s form perfectly.

He has a strong platform of residual fitness that is likely to handle the extra 400 metres and will get the charmed run just in behind the leaders from barrier one.

Suggested Bet: Maurice’s Medad each-way at $8 the win and $2.80 the place.

Confidence Rating: 6/10

rosehill race 5

#7 annavisto

She went like a rocket when resuming in the Frances Tressady at Flemington over 1400 metres.

After sitting outside the lead she exploded away with a blistering turn of foot and speed.

She seems to have finally learnt how to settle, breath properly and conserve her energy for the latter parts of her racing.

Maps to either sit outside the lead again or get the one by one spot in running.

Bet of the day at Rosehill if she re-produces her first-up run.

Suggested Bet: Annavisto win at $3.20

rosehill race 6

#11 our playboy

Could be a race-to-race double to Price/Kent & Kah combination.

Our Playboy resumed with a fourth-place finish behind the very smart KissOnAllFourCheeks.

He pops in in this Doncaster Prelude with strong credentials on wet tracks and it is no wonder being an offspring of wet-track sire Sebring.

Gets up the mile, which is now his pet distance, and will be hard to beat from the pole.

Suggested Bet: Our Playboy win at $4.2

Confidence Rating: 7.5/10

rosehill race 7

#4 stockman

As far as stayers go, Stockman is the one horse that has produced good enough numbers over this distance to give us confidence here.

With seven starts on heavy going for four wins and two placings, he is a proven wet tracker.

Should run a cracker of a race on an each-way basis.

Suggested Bet: Stockman each-way at $12 the win and $3.3 the place.

Confidence Rating: 7.5/10

rosehill race 8

#2 hinged

Chris Waller seems to have unlocked the key to Hinged.

In her second preparation with the champion trainer, she has proven herself a Group 1 winner and a genuine Group 1 horse at three-year-old level.

The query here is her rise to 2000 metres for the first time, but Waller has her humming along at the moment.

She is strong, fit and loves racing on rain-effected going.

Suggested Bet: Hinged win at $4

rosehill race 9

#18 maotai

Maotai has turned into a different horse since the blinkers were applied.

He went like a lear-jet at Randwick in BM-78 grade when resuming with the shades and won convincingly.

He has since had a trial over 1030 metres to get the legs ticking over and has shown no signs of slowing down or regress from that first-up win.

Should lead them up again here and be the one to reel in.

Suggested Bet: Maotai win at $2.5

rosehill race 10

#8 taksu

Taksu is basically a duck.

Just loves the slop and the wetter the better for this six-year-old gelding.

He seems to have really hit his straps since being acquired by Joseph Pride.

He skipped away to win easily on a heavy track at Randwick in BM-88 grade and, despite getting a weight increase for remaining in the same grade, highly doubt that will effect his chances of winning here.

Suggested Bet: Taksu win at $2.80

Confidence Rating: 8/10
