Sandown Tips & Previews, Wednesday 23rd March

The best bets and selections ahead of Wednesday racing from Sandown.

A program at Sandown which compiles eight races for the metro midweek meeting in Victoria.

All the best bets from the eight-race card are in as we look to land a golden kitty to hit the rest of the week with some momentum.

sandown race 2

#1 litermont

As far as sickening beats go, Litermont might just take the headlines for the month of March.

The three-year-old filly went untested to the line of her 1200-metre effort at Moonee Valley last Friday.

Anthony & Sam Freedman have raced her on the quick back up here, which is understandable given her last start was basically a track gallop.

She gets the golden switch of inside barrier to outside barrier and it is highly unlikely she will strung up in between horses, especially with gun senior hoop Mark Zahra going on.

Think she is the type of horse who will appreciate getting out over this 1400-metre race and beyond.

Expecting a big spike from her today.

Suggested Bet: Litermont each-way at $7 win the $3 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 5

sandown race 3

#2 eaton

In what looks a very even race, Eaton should control the lead and he gets a good front-running jockey to get the sectionals to his liking.

He had a very strong fitness base and we know what we will get from him.

He has not won in a while, but this race looks to be the perfect shape for him to dictate the tempo and boot off the corner into the home straight.

Stepping down in grade to BM-70 level, but carrying the same weight after the claim from Nugent makes him a great betting proposition.

Suggested Bet: Eaton each-way at $5 the win and $1.80 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 2

sandown race 6

#4 deepstrike

Get an inkling the market is going to find Deepstrike based off his track and distance at this time last year.

He has always promised a lot as a staying type of galloper, but has failed to live up the hype and that was evident at Murray Bridge last start.

The punters backed him off the map in a Saturday BM-68 and he went like a busted.

Something clearly went amiss there and he been brought straight back to Melbourne.

Interesting that Mark Zahra goes on for the ride.

He is jockey that will not waste his time if this horse has nothing to offer, so we are going to take it on trust that his gun stable has the horse back on track.

Suggested Bet: Deepstrike each-way at $5.5 the win and $2.05 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 4, 5

sandown race 7

#11 lunares

Lunares gets the services of Damian Lane for her return to city-class racing at Sandown.

She looked a little disappointing to the eye when resuming last star at Cranbourne after nearly two months away from the races.

The numbers suggest it was a good enough effort going down in distance with a gap between runs to suggest she can elevate to a stronger rating with Lane going aboard and getting up to a more favourable distance range.

Lane should be able to give her a charmed run from barrier three and she will look the winner at some stage, just hoping it is at the finish post.

Suggested Bet: Lunares each-way at $5 the win and $2 the place.
