Ballarat Tips & Previews, Tuesday 15th March

Racing returns to Ballarat on Tuesday for the best bets with eight races on the program set to be run and won.

After a big weekend of racing, the team is all hands on deck for the beginning of another week on the racing calander.

We start proceedings off with eight races at Ballarat and there is plenty of value to be found.

ballarat race 1

#3 keysborough

The market gap between Keysborough and Cannonball looks too significant in this race.

The pair jumped out at Flemington together over 800 metres and showed good ability as they raced away from the rest of the opposition.

Cannnonball, to the eye, looked to have Keysborough covered, but Keysborough did win the jump out and was holding a winning margin after the post.

Keysborough might also possess a little more gate speed than what Cannonball does and that could prove the winning factor in the run.

If Jye Mcneil can map ahead of Mark Zahra, this could be move to win us the race.

Suggested Bet: Keysborough win at $4.60

ballarat race 2

#11 rock melody

Fitness looks as though it will count for a lot in this race.

Rock Melody has the race fitness on her side to help her break maiden status.

The three-year-old filly from the Ben & J D Hayes stable was only just run down late in her 1100-metre resuming run at Sale last start.

She will clearly derive plenty of benefit from that run and she has the race experience on her side that her two main rivals in Do Ya Punk and Jayanthi do not have.

Damien Oliver being booked is a huge sign of intent and we expect her to be winning this race.

Suggested Bet: Rock Melody win at $2.60

ballarat race 4

#8 turn it up tommy

The market probably went to side with Turn It Up Tommy one run too early this campaign after he blew up at Moonee Valley.

He was asked to do way too much work in the run when being caught deep and asked to press forward in the middle stages of his second-up effort over the mile.

That run is going to top him off beautifully for this third-up attack at the mile and Damien Oliver retains the ride a bid to make amends.

Think Oliver can afford to give up some ground early in this race and find a backside to follow.

Given the fitness base this horse now has, he should be able to make a sustained and surging run without being run down this time.

Suggested Bet: Turn It Up Tommy win at $2.25

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 8 & 14

ballarat race 5

#5 papas dream

There was a huge go for Papa Dream in the betting at his most recent start, but the bubble burst at the 200-metre mark of this 1600-metre effort at Bendigo.

He surged to the lead on a heavy track and was probably ridden a bit too hard out in front.

Racing on such a testing track also probably got the better of him, but it was a much improved run from what he dished up in his first two efforts this campaign.

The market support last start suggests Lindsey Smith has got him going well and he could elevate getting on top of the ground.

He does look the likely leader in this race again and if Jarrod Fry can just ride him that fraction slower, he could have enough in the locker late in the race to hold for, at the least, a place.

Suggested Bet: Papas Dream each-way at $26 the win and $5.5 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 3, 4, 5, 8
