Horrific weather in NSW has forced the hand of Racing NSW and we now find the best bets for Kembla Grange Classic Day at Goulburn.

Horrific weather in NSW has forced the hand of Racing NSW and we now find the best bets for Kembla Grange Classic Day at Goulburn.

Regardless, we are going to be a rain-effected track, so it is best to look for horses who can handle the wet going.

goulburn race 2

#3 harley street

Harley Street has some strong credentials to his this preparation.

His three runs this campaign have yielded a runner-up finish when resuming and he has since won two races in a row, the most recent being a dogged effort over the 1000 metres at this very track.

He returns to the scene of the crime again, but he does go up in grade.

He has the speed to cross and burn them from the middle barrier.

Should be able to run a bold race out in front by setting a quick speed and trying to get the chasers off the bit a long way from home.

Suggested Bet: Harley Street each-way at $6 the win and $2.70 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 3

goulburn race 5

#11 echo sunshine

Echo Sunshine looks like your typical Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott runner that will continue to get better as she rises in distance.

She was easily chased down at Canberra over 1300 metres when having to do some work from the wide gate to find the lead.

The three-year-old filly spent her petrol tickets early but she would have taken plenty of fitness benefit from the run.

Getting up to 1400 metres and controlling the lead in country grade looks the ideal scenario.

Tough to see her getting run down if James Innes Jnr can roll along at a good speed without being pestered.

Suggested Bet: Echo Sunshine win at $4.8

goulburn race 8

#3 hope in your heart

Brings in some the strongest three-year-old form in the country.

Her run behind Hinged last start was enormous when settling at least 8-10 lengths off the leaders and storming home on a heavy surface to finish sixth.

This race represents a much easier task from barrier three and inferior opposition to what she faced at Randwick a fortnight ago.

She is one win from one start at the track as well, which shows us she can handle the turns and surface of Goulburn.

William Pike has been booked for the ride and that gives us great confidence she can run a big race.

Suggested Bet: Hope In Your Heart win at $4

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 3, 4, 6

goulburn race 9

#10 crosscheck

From a BM-78 city race at Rosehill to a provincial grade qualifier, Crosscheck looks extremely well placed in this event.

She was a beaten commodity at her Rosehill run over 1400 metres last start, but this race looks far easier than that.

Jason Collett can hunt her up on the rail and get that perfect suck run tracking the leaders into the straight.

All her runs have been in the last five starts have been in the city, so this seems a big step down in grade from that and she only has to carry 55.5kgs.

Suggested Bet: Crosscheck each-way at $6 the win and $2.25 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 5, 10, 12
