Coolmore Classic Day Tips & Previews, Saturday 12th March

Coolmore Classic Day at Rosehill has the BetDeluxe racing team finding the best bets at a rain-sodden Rosehill track.

The unrelenting rain that has belted the Sydney tracks comes to a bit of stop, but we are still expected to be racing on a heavy track for Coolmore Classic Day.

The BetDeluxe team has had a crack at trying to find the best bets on a tough program full of very competitive races.

rosehill race 1

#6 epic dan

Epic Dan is getting old, however, he still has the zest for racing left in his legs.

He is a wet-track marvel with eight wins and 10 placings from his 41 starts on either soft or heavy tracks.

His effort behind Mayrose in the slop at Randwick over 1100 metres was good enough to be winning this basic race.

It is not a high-confidence bet, but he is worth an each-way peanut.

Suggested Bet: Epic Dan each-way at $8.5 the win and $2.90 the place.

Confidence Rating: 3/10

rosehill race 2

#2 she's extreme

We found out She’s Extreme is a mud lark after he super effort in the heavy 10 surface at Randwick on February 26.

She has now proven herself over the 1200 metres and should be winning this as she progresses towards the Golden Slipper.

Tough to beat from the wide barrier, which is likely going to be the better part of the track.

Suggested Bet: She’s Extreme win at $2.60

Confidence Rating: 8/10

rosehill race 3

#3 magic

Magic is a colt by Snitzel who seems to have plenty of sustained speed in his armoury.

The two-year-old colt surged to line nicely on debut when settling well back from a wide barrier.

The Hawkes stable are very big on having their horses peaking for the right races with the right barriers.

Barrier three and heading into a stakes-grade race is exactly the set up we went to be with and we get that here.

William Pike will get the charmed run on the leaders backs and this colt should be too good for this lot.

Suggested Bet: Magic win at $2.20

Confidence Rating: 8/10

rosehill race 4

#1 ellsberg

Ellsberg is going from strength to strength in 2022.

The rain around Sydney has seen swim like a duck through the wet conditions and he is going to get similar circumstances on Saturday.

He powered through the line when leading all the way in the slop last start and we suspect nothing will change here.

Tim Clark to pull their pants down as this horse gives them another galloping lesson.

Suggested Bet: Ellsberg win at $1.85

Confidence Rating: 9/10

rosehill race 5

#3 prime star

Taking a set against the raced form and going with the fresh horse Prime Star.

He has had three trials in the lead up to this first-up run, so fitness should not be too much of a problem.

Might find a few of these a bit sharp for him, but on a heavy track he is right in the calculations.

He handles the going and can run a good race at each-way odds.

Suggested Bet: Prime Star each-way at $11 the win and $2.70 the place.

rosehil race 6

#11 fangirl

Was double nominated, but the Chris Waller has opted to go for the easier race rather than tackle the Group 1 Coolmore Classic.

She is going to be a much better horse as she gets more experience under her belt, but she has more than enough talent to be winning this.

Got a mile back when running fifth behind her stablemate Hinged last start.

Smaller field will see her closer in the run and she can use that nice sprint to full effect.

Suggested Bet: Fangirl win at $1.80

Confidence Rating: 7.5/10

rosehill race 7

#10 le baol

Le Baol has a big last start starting price, which is a bit of a knock, but his run was enormous all circumstances considered.

He was rising from 1500 metres to 2000 metres on a heavy 10 and nearly knocked off British import Surefire.

Think he started a long prince due to the unknown nature of his form under new trainers Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace.

They might very well have unlocked the key to his talent and a repeat of his last run has him in this up to his ears.

Suggested Bet: Le Baol each-way at $5.5 the win and $1.95 the place.

Confidence Rating: 6/10

rosehill race 8

#4 lighthouse

Simply put, she is in career-best form at the moment.

She has not run one bad this preparation since being acquired from the USA by Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace.

Wet, dry, slowly run or fast run, she is super versatile and is a serious line chaser.

Loved her effort behind Forbidden Love last week in the Canterbury Stakes.

She brings genuine Group 1 filly & mare form to this race and looks an each-way monty in a deep race.

Suggested Bet: Lighthouse each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.40 the place.

Confidence Rating: 8.5/10

rosehill race 9

#11 taksu

A brave resuming effort from Taksu has him hard in the market at his second-up run.

He is a horse that has a liking for give in the ground and he gets that here.

Sprinted well behind Gravina when first-up on the heavy surface at Randwick and now gets up to 1400 metres, which is ideal.

Should settle on the speed and look the winner at some stage of the race – hopefully it is at the finish post!

Suggested Bet: Taksu each-way at $5 the win and $2 the place.

Confidence Rating: 6.5/10

rosehill race 10

#12 zoumon

The three-year-old gelding Zoumon looks the sole-leader of this race.

Tim Clark should able to control the speed as he did on this galloper last start and leave them all for dead.

This horse has a great liking for very heavy tracks after we saw him swim in the heavy 10 at Canterbury a fortnight ago.

Drops slightly in weight for the rise in grade, which is a small tick and he will be hitting peak fitness.

Suggested Bet: Zoumon win at $4

Confidence Rating: 6/10
