The first race of the night is where we find out best best and the team goes through the eight race card at Pakenham on Thursday night.
With value scattered throughout the program, it is a nice teaser ahead of a big weekend of Group 1 racing.
pakenham race 1
#6 mr trafficanti
Mr Trafficanti finds himself in a pretty simple maiden race on debut.
He was subsequently scratched from Sale over the weekend with the heavy-track conditions not suiting him.
Getting to Pakenham on a good deck is going to be perfect for him here.
The three-year-old gelding from the Ben & J D Hayes yard has jumped out nicely and looks an attractive horse to be with here.
His most recent jump out was a nice effort behind city-performed sprinter Chrome Angel.
That effort was good enough for us to have him on top in this event.
Suggested Bet: Mr Trafficanti win at $3
pakenham race 2
Korobeiniki has been building towards breaking her maiden status this preparation.
She produced a fouth-place run behind Seguso at Pakenham over 1200 metres last week and now races on the quick back-up here.
She is clearly very fit now and the big factor for her in this event is getting the blinkers for the first time.
If that gear change can improve another two to three lengths as expected, she will be right in the finish.
Suggested Bet: Korobeiniki each-way at $8 the win and $2.40 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 4, 6, 7
pakenham race 3
#3 charmed destiny
Backing in Charmed Destiny to knock off the odds-on favourite Glint of Hope.
Danny O’Brien has slowly started to work his stable back into strong form and Charmed Destiny can deliver on debut after some solid jump outs at Flemington.
It was this three-year-old colt’s most recent 800-metre bit of work that had the ears pricked.
He was ridden out well after the post and was significant ground on the horses in front of him in a sign that this 1400 metres on debut will be ideal.
Damian Lane being booked is a big signal this horse is ready to run a big race.
Suggested Bet: Charmed Destiny win at $3.70
Suggested Exotic: Exacta 3 & 8
pakenham race 4
Greg Eurell and Damian Lane combine yet again, this time on Tauty.
This three-year-old filly has been a bit of a pain for punters in her campaign thus far with three runner-up finishes in her last star three starts.
That could all change with the booking of Lane and a soft barrier to settle handy to the leaders.
She has a strong fitness base to run out the mile and maps to be ahead of her main danger in the form of Fantastic Galaxy.
Suggested Bet: Tauty win at $3.30
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 4 & 10
