Sandown Tips & Previews, Wednesday 9th March

We are back at Sandown Hillside for Wednesday racing and it means our team has worked feverishly to find all the best bets on the eight-race program.

Wednesday racing at Sandown Hillside has the racing team at BetDeluxe up and about.

The best bets and tips are ready to fire away with the pick of the day coming up in race three.

sandown race 1

#4 british columbia

British Columbia is poised to get the run of the race in this 1400-metre maiden event and that is what attracts us to to him here.

The three-year-old gelding by Vancouver showed good gate speed when resuming behind the speedy Silly Salmon at Pakenham over 1200 metres.

He can utilise his early gate speed to full effect here by rolling to the lead with ease and setting his own pace out in the lead.

Jordan Childs just needs to be smart enough to let him roll and get all his unfit rivals off the bit chasing.

Great chance to get the day started with a winner.

Suggested Bet: British Columbia win at $3.4

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 4, 7, 9, 10

sandown race 3

#7 mr blackwood

This looks like the race Mr Blackwood will finally break through for that elusive win in town.

He is an out-and-out stayer if there ever was one.

Being a lightly-raced four-year-old by Tavistock, the Cindy Alderson-trained galloper has had two 3000-metre runs at his last two starts and will now be strongly conditioned to run his best race over this distance.

It could very well be a case of third time lucky with a better ride than the one he copped at Moonee Valley.

Craig Wlliams has been booked and he should able to control and dictate the tempo of this race to his liking given the unlikely nature of this becoming a gung-ho battle for the early lead.

With fitness on his side and a predicted easy lead, he has to be marked as the best of the day.

Suggested Bet: Mr Blackwood win at $2.80

sandown race 6

#10 sparring

Looks as tough Renae Stubbs might have unearthed a little beauty in the form of Sparring.

This three-year-old gelding went like a jet in his Albury maiden on debut and scooted way to win by six lengths in fast time.

It was the win of a very sharp and smart horse.

He showed great early speed and a very elegant turn of of foot when asked for his effort.

The rise to 1000 metres is no issue and the same goes for the wide gate.

His early speed should allow him to cross, get the lead and be too fast for this lot.

Big tick with Brett Prebble being booked.

Suggested Bet: Sparring win at $2.80

sandown race 8

#7 new choice

Think this race shapes up perfectly for New Choice to sprout wings.

He is rock-hard fit and has put together two nice runs over the mile at his last two starts.

The five-year-old gelding was only two-and-a-half lengths off Niccolini Vito and then ran well behind Zerelle at Moonee Valley.

Wide barrier should not be too much of an issue with Rhys McLeod likely to push forward.

Mighty hard to beat if he gets an uncontested lead or slots in for cover near the leaders.

Suggested Bet: New Choice win at $3.4
