Moonee Valley Tips & Previews, Friday 18th February

The best bets from Friday-night under the lights of Moonee Valley racecourse as we charge towards another big weekend of Group 1 racing.

Friday night means it is time for the best bets from Moonee Valley.

The team at BetDeluxe has found all horses you need to keep onside come the eight-race card under the lights of amphitheatre.

moonee valley race 1

#5 frontenac

A big fan of the 1200 metres back to 955 with Frontenac.

He copped a shocking race shape at Pakenham last start when having to cut the breeze three wide on the speed with no cover in a high-pressure race.

He was entitled to drop out as he did, but was only beaten a couple of lengths.

Think he will be better suited here being ridden with a smother and having the last crack at them.

Damien Oliver staying aboard is a good indication this horse has more to offer than a fifth-place finish at Pakenham.

Suggested Bet: Frontenac each-way at $9 the win and $3.7 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 5

Moonee Valley race 2

#6 zoutellus

Zoutellus is building towards a big run and should be ready to peak here.

He spent too many petrol tickets from a wide barrier at this course and distance last start when having to work three-wide with no cover around the back straight.

He whacked away well in the straight and did a good job to finish as close he did to the leaders.

This race looks much more favourable for him with the inside barrier meaning Ben Allen will punch up and hold the lead without being caught deep.

He just needs to be smart enough to not get crossed by Dayan Star who may try come across from out deep.

If he controls the front, rolls along at a solid tempo and gets them all chasing at the 500-metre mark, his fitness platform can win him the race.

Suggested Bet: Zoutellus win at $4.6

Moonee valley race 3

#1 angel rock

Angel Rock is simply flying at the moment just like her stable.

Tom Dabernig placed her to perfection at Caulfield a fortnight ago and she was only narrowly defeated by a very smart staying type.

Coming back to BM64 grade with Josh Richards claiming from barrier four looks to be another masterstroke.

Has to contend with rising up in distance another 200 metres, but she has platform and fitness to cope with it.

She will handle the track without any dramas and is clearly the one to beat.

Suggested Bet: Angel Rock win at $3.9

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 5, 10

moonee valley race 6

#10 spirit of gold

Lumping an each-way wager on the Peter Moody mare Spirit Of Gold.

She gets in on the minimum weight here and, most importantly, she had a big conditioning over 2500 metres last start which is going have her topped off beautifully.

Jason Benbow only has to make sure she jumps cleanly in order to get the run of the race.

She is rock-hard fit, shown us she can clearly handle the track after her third-placed effort behind Wellsford and is out of stable that is going strongly.

Suggested Bet: Spirit Of Gold each-way at $8 the win and $2.4 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 10
