Moonee Valley Tips & Previews, Friday 11th February

The Friday-night best best under the lights of Moonee Valley as head towards a big weekend of Group 1 racing.

Eight races at Moonee Valley for Friday night racing under lights.

We will have to wait until the last race for the best of the night, but it should be worth it!

moonee valley race 2

#2 vadarchie

Vadarchie is a first starter out of gun galloper turned sire Vadamos.

The three-year-old gelding showed good ability to run second in his most recent jump out over 1400 metres behind potential group horse Normandy Bridge.

He was working through the line like a horse who is only going to benefit by getting up to 2000 metres and beyond.

An eye-opener on the form guide with Damien Oliver being booked to ride.

Get the feeling this horse will be off the bit a fair way out, but will keep surging to the line to run over the top of them.

His danger is the current race favourite Award Me, however, that horse looks very short for a stable going terribly at the moment.

Suggested Bet: Vadarchie win at $3

Moonee Valley race 3

#1 laundy

Laundy drops back in grade and looks well placed at Moonee Valley – a track he has had great success on in recent time.

His two runs at this circuit this campaign have led to a win and runner-up finish.

He clearly has a liking for the tight-turns and sharp angles of this quirky track and handling that is such an important factor in winning.

Will Price should be able to plonk into the one and out back position.

With a solid fitness base and conditioning at the distance, he will be hard to get past if he hits the lead in the home straight.

Suggested Bet: Laundy win at $3.5

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 4

Moonee valley race 4

#5 Angel Like

Having another dip at Angel Like after she was run off her feet last start.

We were on her each-way and she ran on well to run third and give us a collect.

This race looks to shape up a little bit better for her and we get a huge jockey change with Jamie Kah taking the reins.

Kah is usually very positive jockey and should be able to get this galloper to travel much better in the run than she did last start.

Racing on the quick back up from last week tells us she has pulled up super well from the run and will be keen to get on with the job.

If she can be within three to five lengths of the leaders at the 400-metre mark, her finishing burst will be hard to hold out.

Suggested Bet: Angel Like win at $4

|Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 4, 5

moonee valley race 8

#3 delightful journey

Tried to match motors with progressive galloper Gentleman Roy at the Valley last start, however, he felt the pinch late and ran fourth.

This race looks much easier for him and the lead is his for the taking again, but with much less of a challenge from his opposition.

Expect Thomas Stockdale to repeat similar tactic to what Teodore Nugent did with this galloper at Cranbourne two starts ago by bounding to the lead and then really upping the tempo mid race.

Christine Sexton has him going great guns at the moment and his fitness is a big advantage.

The track will favour his on-pace running style and he is going to be our best of the night.

Suggested Bet: Delightful Journey win at $3
