Moonee Valley Tips & Previews, Friday 4th February

Friday night under the lights of the Valley is where you want to be and our racing experts have picked the eyes of the eight-race card to find the best bets.

Moonee Valley plays host to a competitive eight-race card on Friday night under the lights of the amphitheatre.

The best of the night comes up in race three as we look to make it a winning start to a big weekend of racing.

Moonee Valley race 3

#5 shezadandi

Should have arguably won last start at Caulfield in BM-70 grade over 2000 metres where she just could not run down My Delight.

She was held up and shuffled back at a critical stage of the race as the field cornered for home and did her best to run second and now she now meets My Delight better off at the weights.

The small field and being drawn off the fence should allow her to find a perfect position in the run stalking the leaders and not being restricted for running room.

The only query about her is the fact she has never run at Moonee Valley before, but we are happy to take the punt on her given how well she is going.

She is fit and in the form of her career.

Suggested Bet: Shezadandi win at $3.4

moonee valley race 4

#4 angel like

In a race that shapes as though they are going to go lickety split up front, it sets up well for a horse in the form of Angel Like to storm home over the top late in the race.

She brings in South Australian sprinting form, which is often a solid form reference for these types of 955-metre races.

Her last few runs have been over 1200 metres, but dropping back to these sharp sprints that are run very quickly can lend themselves to the stronger types of horses who can sustain the speed and still utilise a sprint.

Expect Madison Lloyd to settle midfield with cover and then come at this field with one swooping run down the outside.

We are getting a great each-way price.

Suggested Bet: Angel Like each-way at $7 the win and $2.15 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 4 & 9

Moonee valley race 6

#6 look sharpish

Look Sharpish is ready to peak at her fifth run this campaign.

The four-year-old mare has been building towards full fitness and she put the writing on the wall last start with a strong effort from the back of the field behind winner Miss Five Hundred.

Josh Richards take the two kilos off her allotted 59kgs with his claim and should be able to camp midfield with cover.

Having the run over 2400 metres for the first time this preparation is going to top her off beautifully for this race and the extra 100 metres here looks ideal.

She has already enjoyed winning success at this track with her only start here being a win.

Each-way price looks a luxury here with it being very hard to see her missing a top three spot.

Suggested Bet: Look Sharpish each-way at $5.5 the win and $2.10 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 3, 5, 6, 8

moonee valley race 8

#10 thunder pace

Thunder Pace is the likely leader in this race and with his solid base of fitness, he can run this field ragged out in the lead.

He is the type of horse that need to control proceedings out in front to be at his best and from the wide gate it would be wise if Thomas Stockdale pushed the button and went forward without hesitation.

Concede the favourite in the form of Seguso will be hard to hold out, but he is drawn wide and will likely give up a big start.

We get a huge price about Thunder Pace and it is too hard to ignore given the speed map.

Suggested Bet: Thunder Pace each-way at $20 the win and $5 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 5 & 10
