Stony Creek Tips & Previews, Tuesday 1st February

Stony Creek hosts Tuesday racing as the BetDeluxe racing experts go through the best bets and tips on the eight-race card.

Tuesday racing from Stony Creek is where the BetDeluxe racing team situates itself for the best bets and tips.

An intriguing first starter has piqued the interest in race one as has a first starter in race two.

Stony Creek race 1

#3 Gleaming Legend

Damian Lane is going out to Stony Creek for one ride.

Gleaming Legend is the horse he is going to saddle up for and this three-year-old gelding looks a huge chance to make it a winning debut.

The John Sadler-trained gelding has been asked to settle early and sprint late in his two jump outs at Pakenham over 800 metres and 1000 metres.

Those two jump outs will have him fitness ready for an 1100-metre debut and he showed great strength late in his jump outs to give us a confidence he can sustain a sprint.

Lane is going to have be at his best from the wide barrier, but that is the reason we are backing him.

He is a star jockey that should be able to navigate his way through the issues of being drawn out wide.

Suggested Bet: Gleaming Legend win at $4.4

Sale race 2

#9 ohana first

Ohana First has been given plenty of time at the jump outs to get herself ready for racing.

The three-year-old filly seemed to really put it all together in her most recent jump out, which was over 900 metres at Mornington.

Love the way she sped out of the gates, held the lead, settled like a professional racehorse and skipped away on the bend.

She draws a barrier that should allow to find the lead as well and replicate what she did in the jump outs.

Looks a filly that could progress through to city grade if she wins this race as we expect.

Suggested Bet: Ohana First win at $2.2

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 7, 9, 10

Stony creek race 5

#6 bufallo bill

Have been taken aback by the two returning runs from jumper Buffalo Bill.

The six-year-old gelding has raced over unsuitable distances at his first-up and second-up efforts this campaign and now gets up to a distance range that will see him improve again.

He had to make the rise from 1100 metres upon resumption to 1600 metres last start and could very well won that race if not for some rotten luck in the straight.

The roughie of the day and having a good each-way wager on him at the double-figure price.

Suggested Bet: Buffalo Bill each-way at $14 the win and $3 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 6

stony creek race 8

#8 prince of mercia

Prince of Mercia goes from city BM-64 grade over to provincial BM-64 grade without going up in weight.

This is the easiest race he has been involved with for the last few months and his last start form reads strongly for this.

He was only 2.8 lengths off in-form sprinter Midwest at Caulfield over 1000 metres and that horse has since come out in a Saturday sprint race to bolt in and frank the form.

The only knock on Prince of Mercia is his ability to put races away and get his nose in front.

Jamie Kah is the perfect jockey to keep his mind on the job and she should be able to get the run of the race from barrier six.

Suggested Bet: Prince Of Mercia win at $2.5

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 7 & 8
