We start the NBL week with a triple-treat of fixtures beginning on Monday night when the Hawks take on the 36ers.
All the best bets from tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday night are in.
illawarra hawks vs. adelaide 36ers
january 24th 7:30pm
After being well handled by Perth over the weekend, the Illawarra Hawks play their second of three home games in a row when they meet the Adelaide 36ers at the WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres on Monday night.
The Hawks were no match for the Wildcats on Saturday and would eventually succumb to a 94-78 loss, while the 36ers fell well short of Melbourne United.
In a game that sees the Hawks -6.5 favourites, it is the home team who holds a 1-0 advantage in the season head to head between the two teams.
Illawarra manufactured a 81-71 win over the 36ers on December 5 last year thanks to big games by Tyler Harvey and Duop Reath.
Both Harvey and Reath were well held by the Wildcats last weekend, but the 36ers do pose as much easier opposition than the second-placed Wildcats.
Suggested Bets:
Illawarra Hawks -6.5 at $1.89
south east melbourne phoenix vs. cairns taipans
January 25th 7:30pm
South East Melbourne Phoenix (4-2) face off against the Cairns Taipans (2-2) in Gippsland on Tuesday night.
The Taipans have had a very interrupted season and have not played in a competitive NBL fixture since New Year’s Eve when they lost 84-78 against Perth.
The Phoenix, meanwhile, will be hoping to continue on the momentum of their 76-63 win over Tasmanian JackJumpers on Sunday.
From a market perspective, we have already seen a firm for the Phoenix in terms of the spread with the -6.5 being backed in from $1.90 to $1.84, so there is some confidence around that the Phoenix form line is the stronger of the two.
But Cairns have looked a much-improve team through its first four fixtures of the season with their only two losses coming at the hands of Perth.
Think the visitors can cover the spread.
Suggested Bet: Cairns Taipans +6.5 at $1.96
brisbane bullets vs. melbourne united
January 26th 3:00pm
A big Australia Day fixture ensues when the Brisbane Bullets face Melbourne United at Nissan Arena on Wednesday night.
United currently hold sway to the biggest active winning streak in the NBL at the moment with seven wins in a row after its 97-78 win over Adelaide on Saturday night.
It is going to be a tough streak for the Bullets to halt if they put on display what they dished up against Sydney on Sunday.
The Bullets barely fired a shot on offence as they went down 97-73 against the Kings, in a loss that consigned them to sixth on the table.
Despite the loss, a return home has the Bullets with a gamblers hope having been slashed from $1.90 into $1.85 at the +4.5 spread margin.
The home team does have scoring options like Nathan Sobey (17 points per game) who can turn it on in offence, but United looks to have too much depth at either end of the court.
The form of Chris Goulding and centre Jo Lual-Acuil combined with the scoring power of the United bench should them breeze past the Bullets on their way to eight-straight wins.
Suggested Bet: Melbourne United -4.5 at $1.95
