NFL Week 18 Tips and Preview, Friday 7th January

The final week of regular-season NFL action as we get set for the best bets from the BetDeluxe experts.

Denver and Kansas commence final week of the NFL season with a host teams readying themselves for playoffs or the end.

Our team of experts go through all the best bets ahead of another enormous set of fixtures.

denver vs. kansas city

9th january 8:30am

It is season over Denver and it is time for Kansas to get ready for the playoffs when these two teams at the opposite end of the NFL spectrum go head to head.

The Chiefs are looking to go one better than last year and start an overwhelming favourite in this contest and it no wonder given how poor of a season the Broncos have had.

Patrick Mahomes should have a field day as the Broncos trudge along into the off season.

Suggested Bet: Kansas City -9.5 at $1.87

philadelphia vs. dallas

9th january 12:15pm

One of the biggest rivalries in the NFL produces another chapter when Philadelphia hosts Dallas.

The Cowboys will be keen to bounce back off a tight 25-22 loss against Arizona last week as they charge towards the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

The Eagles are playoff bound as well after stringing together four wins in a row to sit at 9-7, but this clash against the Cowboys is completely different kettle of fish.

Expect Dallas to run much more than they did against the Cardinals last week and Dak Prescott to prove why he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Suggested Bet: Dallas Cowboys -5.5 at $1.90

cleveland vs. cincinnati

10th january 5:00am

Cincinnati gets set for its final match of the regular season when it travels over to Cleveland to face the eliminated Browns.

Cleveland’s season was put to bed last week with a loss to Pittsburgh and can put the cue in the rack.

It will be interesting to see if the Bengals opt to rest a few players in what has been another brutal season.

Going to pick the unders as our play in this game with the Bengals likely to bring their viciously dangerous offence down a notch or two before getting set for their playoff match.

Suggested Bet: Total points scored under 44.5 at $1.89

detroit vs. green bay

10th january 5:00am

Another case of a top team playing their final game having already qualified and winning its division before the season is out comes to fruition when the Packers meet the Lions.

Detroit’s record on paper looks ugly, but geez they have been super competitive against some the goliaths of the league.

The market here is suggesting the Packers likely going to give players a break to get over bumps and bruises as they press towards an NFL championship.

Doubt Aaron Rodgers will spend much time in the gun, if any, this weekend.

Lions to cover the spread if Rodgers does not play.

Suggested Bet: Detroit Lions +3.5 at $1.91

new york giants vs. washington

10th january 5:00am

The big story out of this dead rubber between the Giants and Washington is the players who can hold down a stop for next season.

Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke has a massive question mark over this his starting position.

The chopping and changing of quarterbacks for Washington has clearly been detrimental to the season and it could give the Giants the opportunity they need to make this contest close.

Suggested Bet: New York Giants +6.5 at $1.8

jacksonville vs. indianapolis

10th january 5:00am

A must-win clash for the Indianapolis Colts ordains itself on Monday when they hit the road to face Jacksonville.

After setting a tremendous winning streak, it all came to a sudden stop against Las Vegas last week making this match crucial.

The Colts had won six of their last seven games prior to Sunday’s loss and went into that game as 8.5-point favorites before fluffing their lines.

Not that we would ever accuse a team of ‘tanking’ but the Jaguars currently hold the number one pick in next season’s draft and a win here might bump them up in the order.

But even with that in play, their best is no where near good enough to defeat the Colts.

Suggested Bet: Indianapolis Colts -15.5 at $1.90

minnesota vs. chicago

10th january 5:00am

The Vikings and Bears come face to face in a game that is worth nothing but pride and the development of youth.

Both teams are out of the playoffs race and are likely to play some of the younger players on their rosters and they prepare for next season and the draft.

The market is siding with home team in this one, but we are yet to know who will play in the quarterback role for the Vikings.

The likely return of Kirk Cousins will be an added boost to the squad.

Suggested Bet: Minnesota -3.5 at $1.87

houston vs. Tennessee

10th january 5:00am

The Titans already won the AFC South division with an 11-6 record coming into the final week of the season.

But that’s not going to stop them from playing hard against the Houston Texans on the road this week.

The Titans are still looking to clinch the top seed in the AFC. A top seed would allow Tennessee to have a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the postseason in the AFC bracket of the playoffs.

That is more than enough motivation and a factor for us to play the Titans against the spread.

Suggested Bet: Tennessee Titans -9.5 at $1.89

baltimore vs. pittsburgh

10th january 5:00am

The Ravens will need a heap of results to go their way if they wish to enter playoffs this season as they shape up for a regular-season finale against Pittsburgh.

Week 14 is when it all went down hill for the Ravens with their marquee quarterback Lamar Jackson going down with an ankle injury which has kept him out since.

Jackson, like his team’s playoff chances, is a slim chance to play in this contest.

Given how close they got to beating the LA Rams last week, his presence here would almost ensure a win.

Suggested Bet: Baltimore Ravens -5.5 at $1.92

atlanta vs. new orleans

10th january 8:25am

Both the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans will bring their respective seasons to an end when they lock horns on Monday morning.

In what has been a season plagued by injuries to the 8-8 Saints who have been without Drew Brees for the first time in over a decade, the visitors are fancied in the market to finish the season with a win.

The Falcons, despite being out of playoffs contention, have performed admirably given given the offseason departure of Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.

However, think the Saints just a have little more at either end of the field  Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill capable of grinding away opponents on the ground and the Saints defense locking solid as a rock having only allowed the fourth-fewest points per game.

Suggested Bet: New Orleans Saints -4.5 at $1.90

buffalo vs. new york jets

10th january 8:25am

The Buffalo Bills (10-6) carry a three-game winning run into their final regular fixture against the New York Jets (4-12).

The Bills come up the shortest price favourite of any time in the final week and it is within reason given how strong they have looked with Josh Allen firing away with his rocket arm.

With zero motivation or reason to be playing other than pride, the Jets are in line for a big loss here.

Suggested Bet: Buffalo Bills -15.5 at $1.89

tampa bay vs. carolina

10th january 8:25am

Goodness gracious.

What a week it has been for Tampa Bay after Antonio Brown sensationally quit the Buccaneers mid game against the Jets last week.

Tom Brady rescued the Buccaneers from what would have been an embarrassing loss to the Jets.

The thing with Brady is, over the years, we have come to realise how clutch he is when things are not going his way.

The Buccaneers are professional enough to put off field and on field dramas aside and get the win heading into the playoffs.

Suggested Bet: Tampa Bay -6.5 at $1.85

miami vs. new england

10th january 8:25am

After having its stunning winning streak halted against Tennessee last week, the Miami Dolphins now look to get back to winning ways against New England.

But it is not going to come easy against the Patriots who start the -6.5 favourites following their devastating 50-10 win over the Jaguars.

Mac Jones was as efficient as ever and earned a well deserved a break in the win, so it might be a case of him being rested for this game as well.

The Dolphins have shown some fantastic form during their winning run this season and can easily rebound to cover the spread here.

Suggested Bet: Miami Dolphins +6.5 at $1.89

la rams vs. san francisco

10th january 8:25am

The Los Angeles Rams will host the San Francisco 49ers at the SoFi Stadium in a match for the final round of the 2021-2022 NFL regular season.

The Rams, one of the best teams this season, holding a record of 12-4, while the 49ers improved to 9-7 after staving off the Texans 23-7 last week.

Dealing with Matt Stafford is going to be a headache.

Stafford threw for two interceptions in the 20-19 win over Baltimore last week and rarely does he have two bang average games in a row.

Expect him to come out firing as they hit the playoffs with momentum in front of their home fans.

Suggested Bet: LA Rams -4.5 at $1.90

arizona vs. seattle

10th january 8:25am

The Arizona Cardinals are coming off of a big win against the Dallas Cowboys, solidifying their chance to win the NFC West.

The Seattle Seahawks haven’t performed as well this season, sitting last in the division and this could very well be the final game for veteran quarterback Russell Wilson in a Seattle jersey.

If it is, there will be an emotional element to the contest, but the Cardinals showed they are not to be messed with in their 25-22 win over the Cowboys.

Expecting the Cardinals to use the momentum of their win against Dallas to make this a winning end to the regular season on the way to playoffs.

Suggested Bet: Arizona Cardinals -6.5 at $1.89

las vegas vs. la chargers

10th january 12:20pm

The season finale between the Chargers and Raiders will pit two of the league’s top offences against each other.

The Chargers got the better of the Raiders by a score of 28-14 earlier this season and that will give them confidence heading on this road trip to Nevada.

The Raiders were left to rue an incredible poor first half in that game after trailing 21-0 heading into the main break.

A return to their home field for this clash should bridge the margin, but the Chargers have too much quality for the injury-depleted Raiders to handle

Suggested Bet: LA Chargers -2.5 at $1.89
