Cranbourne Tips & Previews, Friday 7th January

We shift away from Moonee Valley and head over to Cranbourne for Friday-night racing ahead of the best bets from an eight-race card.

It’s an eight-race card from Cranbourne on Friday night!

A first starter and an experienced galloper are the two highlights of the best bets from BetDeluxe.

cranbourne race 1

#5 estrapaz

Looks your real jump-and-run type Cranbourne horse who can lead throughout and win on debut.

David and Coral Feek have set this three-year-old gelding up with two jump outs of which the second was the most impressive.

His first jump out was slightly tardy, but the blinkers have clearly sparked him into much better form after he skipped away from the barriers and won with a bit in hand during his second jump out.

If he maps to lead, as we predict, he is going to be the one to run down.

Suggested Bet: Estrapaz win at $4.8

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 5 & 9

cranbourne race 3

#1 Bioluminescence

Bioluminescence is the each-way gamble in this race.

The three-year-old filly from the Simon Zahra stable put in an okay run on debut, but she was not exactly in the ideal scenario given she drew wide that day.

She got back all the way to last and run home to finish eighth doing her best work late in the piece.

Her effort was one of the better runs in the race and now she gets an inside and the services of star jockey Damian Lane to pilot her around the tricky Cranbourne course.

She will obviously show some type of natural improvement from that first-up effort and that will be enough to hopefully see her run a place for us at the very worst.

Suggested Bet: Bioluminescence each-way at $8.5 the win and $2.6 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 9, 11

cranbourne race 4

#8 wolflands

Wolflands makes his debut at Cranbourne after two jump out wins.

His most recent effort over 1000 metres on November 29 was the pick of the two after defeating some handy older horses under riding.

He booted away to win the jump out in convincing fashion proving he can handle the tight confines of Cranbourne and can easily bound to an uncontested lead in this 1200 metre event.

Should he get his own way in front, that fitness base he has from being ridden out and asked to extend in his jump out will come in good stead towards the last 200 metres.

Suggested Bet: Wolflands win at $4.4

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 6 & 8

cranbourne race 7

#7 sacred lass

She has been a perennial place-getter for the punters this preparation, however, this Cranbourne 2025-metre event looks to be the golden opportunity Sacred Lass needs to get her back to winning ways.

Despite being defeated in all her starts at Moonee Valley this campaign, she does have some strong starting-price profiles that suggest she is a much better chance in what looks to be a weaker race on paper than what she has been facing.

Hoping Zac Spain can really push the button from the barriers and find the front with this race-fit mare.

Should he able to dictate the tempo with her, we will see the best of her tonight.

Suggested Bet: Sacred Lass win at $3.3
