Sandown Tips & Previews, Wednesday 5th January

We head back to Sandown for the second time this week as we prepare for the best bets from BetDeluxe ahead of Wednesday racing.

It is back to Sandown we go for the second meeting in three days as we get set for mid-week racing.

The best of the day comes up later in the program with Damien Oliver looking to get some reward for loyalty on a Godolphin filly.

Sandown Race 2

#8 The Economist

This horse could very well become a stable star for Barry Fox.

The three-year-old gelding has been building towards a big run in maiden grade and this could be it.

What does bode really well for him here is the inside barrier.

He has been getting back and running on in his races and having to make up too much ground.

Expecting him to find an on-pace position in the run and be too good for this lot.

Suggested Bet: The Economist win at $2.20

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 8 & 7

sandown race 4

#3 Murrami Express

Brings in the strongest form line to this race with a solid first-up effort at flemington over 1200 metres.

He raced in BM-70 grade in that event but now comes back in grade.

Has to be up in the weights, but that should be offset by his soft barrier and fitness elevation from the resuming run.

Jamie Kah has been booked, which is also a positive sign this horse is traveling well enough to be winning a race like this.

Suggested Bet: Murrami Express win at $2.25

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 3/ 4, 5 / 4, 5

sandown race 5

#9 unfair dismissal

He’s a six-year-old gelding who has plenty of race experience on his side.

He is yet to win a race at Sandown, but he’s rarely run a bad here either and he showed up last start with a good first-up run.

There should be plenty of elevation and fitness to come from the fresh effort over 1300 metres.

Draws a soft barrier and will be hard to hold out of the placings at the very worst.

Suggested Bet: Unfair Dismissal each-way at $9 the win and $2.9 the place

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 3, 4, 9

sandown race 8

#7 translation

Has been racing well without having the most ideal scenarios to set her up for a win.

Damien Oliver has been loyal to her throughout this preparation and he should be able to get his reward for that patience today.

The three-year-old filly drew wide at Moonee Valley and was never a hope of winning over 955 metres when getting too far back.

This race sees her get the gun run from barrier four and she will be within striking distance on the home corner to let down with her acceleration.

Suggested Bet: Translation win at $4.4
