Doomben Tips & Previews, Saturday 1st January

Doomben will host the first race meeting of 2022 in Brisbane when we get set for the best bets on the nine-race program.

A huge day at Doomben as we delve deep into Queensland’s summer racing features with the running of The Buffering (1350 metres) and Nudgee Stakes (1200 metres).

BetDeluxe goes through all the best bets on a cracking nine-race card.

Doomben race 4

#1 wisdom of water

Finally rewarded the punters with a tenacious win last start when taking out the Wyong 3yo & 4yo Magic Millions.

He had been building towards a winning run and can now use that wyong run as a platform to make it two in a run.

Annabel Neasham seems to have him going much better than now and he looks a much more genuine galloper.

Gets the gun passage from the inside barrier and is clearly the best horse in the race.

Suggested Bet: Wisdom Of Water win at $3

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 3

Doomben race 5

#6 Strange Charm

Love it when Kris Lees brings these gallopers up to Queensland from NSW.

The five-year-old mare has been racing in good form and has managed to sneak her way into this race.

She drops half-a-kilo from her last start start effort in the exact same grade which is a huge tick.

Andrew Mallyon should find his way into the perfect position in running, which will likely be the one-one position.

She is fit, in good order and ready to race into the winning form again.

Suggested Bet: Strange Charm win at $3.5

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 6 & 12

Doomben race 8

#4 Tambo's Mate

Tony Gollan has got this horse airborne.

Three wins on his last four starts show how well he is progressing as a race horse.

His last start win when showing great mister to lead from box to barrier gave an insight into this horse we never thought would be exposed; early speed.

The beauty of this horse is he proved his versatility and from barrier three, Ryan Maloney will not have to do too much work to drop into a nice spot.

Predicting Apache Chase will slew across from the outside barrier and push forward, while we bide our time without spending too many petrol tickets.

Suggested Bet: Tambo’s Mate each-way at $6 the win and $2.2 the place

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 3, 4, 9

doomben race 9

#4 isotope

The speed machine of a mare is back at the races.

The question mark on her is whether or not Tony Gollan has her wound up enough to win.

Judging by the 1000-merge barrier trial at Doomben on December 7, this mare has a few more lengths up her sleeve.

She might be able to get away without the race fitness on her by enjoying an economical run from barrier three.

Suggested Bet: Isotope win $2.5
