Mornington is where we cruise through an eight-race card for the main Wednesday meeting in Victoria.
All the best bets you need be on come the first of the day.
mornington race 1
#5 place of gold
Place of Gold showed a nice amount of talent at the Cranbourne jump outs leading into this 1200-metre maiden.
The Cliff Brown-trained three-year-old gelding travelled sweetly in his most recent jump out when finding the front and never being headed.
It was the sign of a horse who loves to run and he showed great strength for a juvenile galloper by holding the lead past the post.
Damian Lane also trialled this horse and he showed a lovely turn of foot under riding from Lane.
Expecting jockey Ethan Brown to lob across from the wide gate, find the lead and pinch an unassailable break on the home bend.
Suggested Bet: Place of Gold win at $2.70
mornington race 5
#9 hereforagoodtime
Hereforagoodtime seems ready to crack the second victory of her career after battling to do so since her maiden win.
She has performed respectfully in city grade at her past three runs, all of which have rated and looked much stronger than anything the opposition in this race has produced.
She flashed home late from the back of the field in a tougher race at Moonee Valley last start and now comes back to provincial level.
Draws a nice enough barrier to settle one off the fence to ensure she has full momentum heading into the home straight.
Suggested Bet: Hereforagoodtime win at $2.70
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 7, 9
Mornington race 7
#7 CLassy Banner
The market seems to have ignored the win of Classy Banner in BM-58 grade at Mornington last start.
He surged to the line, won with plenty in hand and now elevates to BM-64 level with a drop in weight.
The race looks to shape up nicely for him with some solid early speed engaged and it should allow Jamie Mott to slot into a midfield spot with cover.
If he can be close enough at the bend and not have to make too many lengths, he should at least, finish in the top three.
Suggested Bet: Classy Banner each-way at $8 the win and $2.6 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 5, 7, 9, 11
Mornington race 8
#5 more
More gets into the right race over 1000 metres on the tight-turning Mornington track.
The four-year-old mare is racing in career best form and comes into this race off a solid third-place effort in BM-64 last start.
She is the likely leader in a race that does not seem to have too much early speed in it.
Jamie Kah taking the ride is a massive lead from the stable that this horse is ready to win again.
Barrier four presents Kah with the perfect opportunity to win this race.
Suggested Bet: More win at $3
Suggested Exotic: Exacta 5 & 2
