Yarra Valley Tips & Previews, Tuesday 28th December

The best bets from BetDeluxe ahead of thoroughbred racing at Yarra Valley.

The best bets are in form after landing the best of the day at Stony Creek yesterday.

Now, the attention is turned to this eight-race card Yarra Valley with our bets of the day coming up in race two.

yarra valley race 2

#5 heywood

Heywood will scoot along up near the lead on debut after some nice jump outs leading into this 1000-metre maiden.

The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained three-year-old gelding showed a good turn of foot in his most recent trial at Cranbourne on heavy going over 800 metres.

He showed plenty of improvement between his first and second trials and that should continue into race day.

Damien Thornton is riding in good form and barrier one is going to allow this horse to get all the favours on the rail.

Best of the day at Yarra Valley.

Suggested Bet: Heywood win at $2.6

yarra valley race 4

#6 flying rex

Get the inkling Flying Rex is ready to bolt in with his debut after a solid effort at Geelong last start.

He made the step up to 1500 metres for the first time in his career and showed good tenacity to run second.

He will now be fully fit and much better conditioned to run a much stronger 1500 metres than he did last start and should find the front easily from the inside barrier.

Jarrod Fry is a good front-running jockey who will allow this horse to stride out and try to get this field chasing from a long way out.

This horse would be the best of the day if not for the first starter in race two.

Suggested Bet: Flying Rex win at $2.7

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 6, 10

yarra valley race 7

#9 night of delight

Night of Delight returns to the scene of the crime of her only career victory.

The now four-year-old mare had been racing on rain-effected going throughout the winter and much tougher races than this simple BM-58 over 1000 metres.

Getting back onto drying ground should see her improve from what she did last preparation and she has had a nice jump out to prepare for this race.

Daniel Moor has been booked first-up and that is a good enough push in itself from the stable to suggest she is ready to win.

Suggested Bet: Night of Delight win at $4.2

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 6 & 9

yarra valley race 8

#1 Lord Domino

Coming back to country level should see Lord Domino finish much closer than he did last start.

After a strong return with a runner-up finish at Kyneton of 1100 metres, he made the climb to city class at Moonee Valley over 1200 metres and finished some six lengths away from a very smart winner in Clemenceau.

He has drawn wide here, but that should be offset by the four-kilo-claiming apprentice pressing forward to ascertain an on-pace position.

This four-year-old gelding should be hitting full fitness now and be hard to beat.

Suggested Bet: Lord Domino win at $3.9

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 7
