Randwick Tips & Previews, Sunday 26th December

Boxing Day from Randwick presents us with the running of the Summer Cup as the BetDeluxe team goes through the best bets on the 10-race card.

The running of the feature Summer Cup takes the headlines at Randwick ahead of the 10-race card for Boxing Day.

All the best bets are in the readiness with the BetDeluxe team taking a real liking to Joseph Pride’s horse in the Summer Cup.

Randwick race 2

#3 Anethole

Anethole almost defied the savage market drift against her when resuming from her spell at Tamworth just under a month ago.

She raced over 1000 metres and was snicked back to the last in the run before rattling home to finish at the girth of the eventual winer.

Should take a massive fitness elevation from that run and the rise to 1100 metres will suit her perfectly given how well she hit the line late in her first-up effort.

Barrier three presents her with the chance to find a spot in the run much closer to the leaders than last start and she seems to handle wet going quite well.

Looks a solid each-way bet to start the day.

Suggested Bet: Anethole each-way at $8.5 the win and $2.9 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 3 & 5

#4 kirwans lane

At the weights, Kirwans Lane is ideally placed in this race.

He drops back from the Group 2 Villiers Stakes over 1600 meters to a mere BM-88 handicap and only has to carry an extra 3kgs after the claim from Tom Sherry.

He has not raced in benchmark for quite a while and comes out much stronger in open-grade races that have much more depth than anything this field can hang their hat on at the moment.

Has fitness on his side now with this being his third run in the preparation and gets perfect the stalking run from barrier two.

Sherry should be able to camp behind the leaders and then angle out to run them down in the straight having conserved his energy in the run.

Suggested Bet: Kirwans Lane win at $2.80

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 4, 5, 8

randwick race 7

#3 Stockman

Could be the best bet around the country.

Stockman has been building towards a big run this preparation and finally gets the chance to show us what he has under the bonnet.

All his runs this campaign have been enormous from the rear half of the field, having been asked to settle near last and scoot home with some very fast late sectionals.

His effort in the Villiers a fortnight ago was sublime after rattling home from last at the 1000-metre mark to finish fourth.

That run is going have his veins bursting and his coast gleaming as he makes the step towards being fully fit.

Love the rise to 2000 metres as it means he can settle far closer in the run than he has been against sharper horses.

Get him up, Jay!

Suggested Bet: Stockman win at $3.4

randwick race 8

#9 super effort

Super Effort has trialled up nicely and will attract an speculative each-way bet in this race.

Gerald Ryan is known for getting his horses screwed down strongly for their first-up runs and it is evident from this horse has produced in his career thus far.

He is twice a winner when racing at his first run during a campaign and resumes here off a good 900-metre trial.

He can pop himself into a perfect trailing run a pair or two back behind the lead speed.

Only query on him might just be the last 50 metres given he is likely to just be lacking that race fitness to really have him racing near his best, but he is good enough to win and we get a good price about him.

Suggested Bet: Super Effort each-way at $9 the win and $3 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 4, 5, 7, 9
