newcastle jets vs. western sydney wanderers

december 26th 5:05pm

Match week six kicks off with a Boxing Day clash between the Newcastle Jets and the Western Sydney Wanderers.

In a game that sees two teams on the precipice of the top six, the market is struggling to seperate them on a head to head basis with the Jets coming the very slight $2.35 favourites.

Newcastle has arguably shown the better form of the two clubs this season, but somehow managed to cough up a 1-0 lead against 10-men Macarthur to go down 2-1 in the dying embers of the game.

The Wanderers fare no better having dropped their last two games and sacking their coach in the process.

Think the Jets have a bit more resolve about them under new coach Arthur Pappas and can find a way to win.

Prediction: Newcastle Jets 1 Western Sydney Wanderers 0

Suggested bets: Newcastle Jets head to head at $2.35

melbourne victory vs. western united

december 26th 7:45pm

While it may not reach the heights of the Derby spectacle we saw last weekend, Melbourne Victory head into another cross-town rivalry fixture this time against Western United.

Victory played out one of the all-time epic Derby matches against Melbourne City last Saturday in what turned out to be a 2-2 draw, while Western United kept up its great start to life under Josh Aloisi with professional 1-0 win over Adelaide United.

Both teams have already clashed this season with Victory taking the honours thanks to a 1-0 win down at GMHBA Stadium in the season-opener.

A big inclusion for Melbourne in this fixture is the return of gun left-back Jason Davidson.

Marco Rojas and Chris Ikonomidis are likely starters as well.

For Western United, it will be relying upon star playmaker Alessandro Diamanti and striker Dylan Wenzel-Halls to pull the strings in the front third.

Should be set for another tight contest between these two clubs, but the Victory look value on their home deck.

Prediction: Melbourne Victory 2 Western United 1

Suggested bet: Melbourne Victory head to head at $2.05

macarthur vs. sydney fc

december 26th 7:45pm

As far surprises go, seeing Macarthur FC atop of the table with Sydney FC languishing in eighth as we head into this game is something not many could have forecast before the season started.

The Bulls can simply do no wrong at the moment and, even when they do, they still find a way to victory as they did when scoring a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Newcastle despite being down to 10 men.

Sydney, meanwhile, put its season back on track with a gritty 2-1 win over Wellington and is now fancied as the $2.2 favourite to get this game penciled in as a win.

The Bulls have clearly been the better team so far this season and have already pinched a win over the Sky Blues when Lachlan Rose’s 17th minute strike sealed the three points in their season-opener.

The $3.10 on offer looks juicy for the home team.

Prediction: Macarthur FC 2 Sydney FC 1

Suggested bet: Macarthur FC head to head at $3.10

central coast vs. wellington

december 27th 4:05pm

After starting the season brightly, Wellington Phoenix are now looking to pick up the pieces of a three-game losing streak when they head to Central Coast Stadium to face the Mariners on Monday.

The Phoenix have since fallen to Western Sydney, Newcastle and Sydney to now sit last in the A-League, while Central Coast has the momentum of consecutive wins heading into this clash.

A 2-0 win over Wanderers last week ensured the Mariners locked themselves into fourth spot on the table and they have continued to proves their finals berth last season was no fluke.

Marco Urena has really started to look at home in the Mariners guernsey this season with craft around the 18-yard box causing havoc for opposition defence.

The Mariners are starting to make Central Coast Stadium a fortress having won both games they have played their this season.

Tough to tip against the home team here.

Prediction: Central Coast Mariners 2 Wellington Phoenix 1

Suggested Bet: Central Coast Mariners head to head at $2.15
