Sandown Park Greyhound Tips & Previews, Thursday 23rd December

The best tips and previews from another big 12-race card card at Sandown Park ahead of Thursday greyhound racing.

We head to Sandown Park for a 12-race card ahead of Thursday night greyhound racing.

The BetDeluxe team has hunted down all the value and best bets on the program.

sandown park race 1

#3 his got tow

His Got Tow is yet to win a race in his two-start career, but he looks poised to breakthrough for that first victory here.

The Darren Archer-trained chaser is still learning his craft and took a big step to understanding what racing is all about after his brave runner-up effort at Sandown Park over 515 metres last start.

This race looks to set up well for him and he did start the favourite in the lead-up race, which has to be respected.

If he can jump a little cleaner than he did last start, then that finishing burst he showed can be used to much better effect here.

Suggested Bet: His Got Tow win at $3.3

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 3

sandown park race 2

#8 aston velvet

Aston Velvet is trucking along very nicely at the moment and finds another winnable race at Sandown Park.

The two-year-old bitch has drawn the widest box here, but it should not be a problem for her given she possesses very nice early speed for this grade of racing.

She has had three starts from box eight for two wins and can easily skip along out wide on the track and cross her main danger drawn in box one.

She busted the clock at Cranbourne in her 29.88 win over 520 metres and a similar performance here marks her as the dog to be with.

Suggested Bet: Aston Velvet win at $3.4

Sandown park race 7

#1 dusty lyn

Box one is an ideal draw for Dusty Lyn as she gets set to take on this 595-metre G5 event at Sandown Park.

Jason Formosa had her going well enough to finish second behind gun chaser Well Grounded last start and she drops back to a much easier race here.

Expecting her to kick up from the inside draw and hold the rail early in the race, then use her superior mid-race burst to runaway from her rivals in the back straight.

Her main danger will be Shima Glow, but that dog has had two weeks between runs, whereas Dusty Lyn is up and running off only a week break.

Suggested Bet: Dusty Lyn win at $2.5

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 3, 7

Sandown park race 9

#2 aston tango

Aston Tango races on the four-day back up into this 515-metre G5 race at Sandown Park.

She has clearly pulled up a treat from her second-place finish at The Meadows last Saturday night and she now returns to the scene of her last victory.

Her 29.54 lead-all-the-way win back on November 28 – her most recent win – was a big green tick at her ability to handle the Sandown course and she can easily lead this race.

Plan Ahead – the favourite in the race – is the clear danger, but she is prone to jumping a little tardily away from the boxes and might just very well be crossed by our selection.

Suggested Bet: Aston Tango win at $4

Suggested Exotic: Boxed First Four – 1, 2, 4, 6
