The best bets from the BetDeluxe greyhound experts ahead of the 12-race card from The Meadows this Saturday night.

Greyhound racing gets ready for the running of the $1,145,000 Phoenix from The Meadows.

The best bets from the BetDeluxe greyhound experts ahead of the 12-race card from The Meadows this Saturday night are ready to go.

Our best of the night is a speedster who makes an appearance in race two.

the meadows race 2

#4 aston flame

Aston Flame is a jet-propelled beginner.

She has been a winning machine at country and provincial, and now she gets the golden opportunity to transfer that form to the city.

The big query for her will be the last 40-50 metres given she is only performed over the 450-460 metre circuits.

What stands out for her here, should be the early advantage she will get from the boxes.

She is the quickest beginner in the field and can find herself with a race-winning advantage early on.

We will gasping our breathes late in the race, but hopefully she has enough in the tank to hold on.

Suggested Bet: Aston Flame win at $3.3

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 4, 5, 6

The Meadows race 5

#1 aces are trumps

Aces Are Trumps draws the cherry here and is going to be hard to hold out in this race.

Rebecca Gibbons has got this doing chiming along well and the drop back to G4/5 level is going to suit this chaser perfectly.

The two-year-old dog has some very short prices at hist most recent runs in this grade and he possesses a very sharp personal best time here of 34.51.

A repeat of that time, or anything near that time, would render him the one to beat here.

Will just need a bit of luck from the inside box early on to get into clear air and win this.

Suggested Bet: Aces Are Trumps win at $4.2

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 2

The Meadows race 8

#5 aston rupee

The $1,145,000 Phoenix will all but likely be a match-race in two between Aston Rupee and Koblenz.

Both chasers are arguably the two best dogs on the Australian greyhound racing scene, but it is Aston Rupee who we want to be with here.

He started a very heavily backed $2.10 favourite in the Melbourne Cup just under a month ago and had absolutely zero luck when being checked and buffeted out of the race.

Banking on Aston Rupee to get a clear run and hold out Koblenz from the wide box as the two pair away to fight out the finish.

The quinella looks a lock, but Aston Rupee at the $2.35 looks great value.

Suggested Bet: Aston Rupee win at $2.35

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 5 & 8

the meadows race 10

#7 overshadowed

Siding with Overshadowed who looks the better value over winning machine Hennessy.

The odd-on favourite has scorched along to win eight races in a row, but he is yet to show anything of note at The Meadows.

Happy to risk him and be in the camp of the Jason Thompson-trained chaser who races on the quick back-up after being beaten as on odds-on pop at Warragul.

He is clearly racing in good order and must be thriving at home to be racing with such a little break.

Expecting him to start a much shorter price than the $5.5 on offer.

Suggested Bet: Overshadowed win at $5.5

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – Field/ 4/ Field
