Moonee Valley Tips & Previews, Friday 17th December

A summer night under the lights of Moonee Valley as BetDeluxe takes you through the best bets on the eight-race card.

It’s a Friday night set of BetDeluxe best bets from Moonee Valley.

The eight-race card has provided us with a handful of betting opportunities on what looks a very even bunch of races on the night.

Moonee Valley Race 1

#5 Tricology

Anything above $2 looks great value for Tricology who debuted in fine style when running second behind Airclash at Mornington over 1200 metres.

He is going to take a huge amount of benefit from that run and arguably strikes a much easier race than what he did at his first start.

Barrier is of no concern either.

Luke Nolen should be able to position this three-year-old gelding into a midfield sot with cover, but even if he is posted wide, it should not be an issue.

The horse who finished third out of the Mornington race which Tricology comes from has since run well against Port Louis and Oughton at Sandown to frank the form.

High confidence bet to open the night.

Suggested Bet: Tricology win at $2.20

moonee valley race 4

#6 Fontein Diamond

Fontein Diamond is honing in on a win after toughing it out in higher grade Moonee Valley a fortnight ago.

She might getting on a little bit, but she is still showing great dash in the early part of her races and that should see her find the front here.

The drop down to BM-64 grade accompanied by the 3kg-claim of Alana Kelly should help this mare finish in the top three at bare minimum.

Kelly should able to offset the wide barrier by striding her mare to the lead and booting clear on the bend to hopefully have a winning break on the field.

Suggested Bet: Fontein Diamond each-way at $5 the win and $2 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 4 & 6

Moonee Valley Race 5

#9 Francine

Francine is the each-way play of the night.

She drops down in grade and only has to carry an extra 3kgs, but gets the services of gun hoop Daniel Moor.

The four-year-old mare was forced to burn the candle too early in her most recent run which saw her run down very late over 1000 metres at Warrnambool.

The lead looks to be hers for the taking here and having to travel only 955 metres compared to 1000 metres might just prove the winning factor.

Surprised to see double figures available for a horse of her calibre who maps to lead at Moonee Valley in a plain race.

Suggested Bet: Francine each-way at $12 the win and $3.7 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 4, 9, 12

moonee valley race 6

#9 Poppy Joan

Poppy Joan is ready to groove into winning form after two very solid resuming runs.

Her last start was a step up from 1600 metres to 2000 metres at only her second run this campaign and she clearly was not at peak fitness levels to run to her best over that distance.

She is going to thriving after that effort and it will be interesting to see how she parades.

Judging by what she has produced when fully fit plus the natural progression of residual fitness the more she races, she at least has another two to four lengths worth of improvement to come.

Anything in that vicinity makes her extremely hard to beat in this race especially with the star lady of racing Jamie Kah taking the ride.

Suggested Bet: Poppy Joan win at $2.7

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 9 & 8
