English Premier League Match Week 18 Tips & Previews, Saturday 18th December

The best bets as we head into Match Week 18 of the Premier League.

With COVID ripping through the Premier League and wreaking havoc with fixtures, we only have five games to lock in this weekend.

The best bets all begin with the in-form Aston Villa taking on Burnley.

Aston Villa vs. Burnley

December 19th 2:00am

Aston Villa hum and skip along to Villa Park when it welcomes Burnley to open this weekend’s Premier League action.

Steven Gerrard could very well be on track for manager of the season if he can continue this brilliant run of form set by his Villa squad.

Goals on either side of half time proved enough for a 2-0 win over bottom-placed Norwich as Villa made it three wins in its last five games with losses only coming against Liverpool and Manchester City.

Burnley, however, has struggled to find any meaningful form this season and sit 18th on the Premier League table.

The Clarets did hold West Ham to a scoreless draw on Monday, so there is some chance of a result on the cards for Burnley.

But this Villa team looks a shoe in at home at the moment.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1 Burnley 0

Suggested Bet: Burnley head to head at $1.72

leeds vs. arsenal

december 19th 4:30am

After a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City, Leeds United returns to Elland Road with its tail between its legs in preparation for its clash with Arsenal.

Leeds folded like a deck of cards at the Etihad to mount more pressure on coach Marcelo Bielsa and it will not get any easier against Arsenal team who dominated West Ham on Thursday in a 2-0 win.

The home team will surely respond after such a poor outing, but Arsenal looks to have found a new lease of life and will probably pack too much of a punch in the front third to be stopped.

Prediction: Leeds United 1 Arsenal 3

Suggested Bet: Arsenal head to head at $1.85

wolverhampton vs. chelsea

december 20th 1:00am

Molineux is where Wolverhampton and Chelsea situate themselves for this pivotal Premier League clash come Monday morning.

Chelsea is in desperate need of three points if it is to hold firm on its chances of a title after dropping points against Everton and dropping to third on the table.

Thomas Tuchel has clearly missed the influence of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, but that was no excuse for the 1-1 drawn against Everton and 3-2 loss against West Ham in between the 3-2 win over Leeds.

Bruno Lage will know this Chelsea looks vulnerable at the back as well and will surely urge his troops to be on the front foot at home, especially after a brave 1-0 win away from home against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Thinking the Wolves can steal a point here.

Prediction: Wolverhampton 2 Chelsea 2

Suggested Bet: Draw at $3.90

newcastle vs. manchester city

december 20th 1:15am

If Eddie Howe’s tenure at Newcastle has already started in a rough way, then facing Manchester City this week at St James Park makes matters even harder.

The Magpies are struggling to get out of the relegation zone, while City has catapulted itself to the top of the league with a six-game winning run and show zero signs of stopping.

Pep Guardiola would have been sitting down his managerial chair with a cigar and whiskey during the 7-0 win over Leeds United last weekend, which now sees City outright favourite to win the league.

If Howe finds a way to beat City, then the Queen should knight him.

City in another canter.

Prediction: Newcastle United 0 Manchester City 3

Suggested Bet: Total goals over 2.5 at $1.44

tottenham vs. liverpool

december 20th 3:30am

Antonio Conte faces his biggest test to date at Tottenham manager when his squad fronts up against Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs have done what they need to do in the last two fixtures winning 2-0 against Brentford and, more recently, 3-0 against Norwich.

Liverpool, meanwhile, has put itself in what looks to be a two-horse race for the title alongside Manchester City after a 3-1 win over Newcastle.

Mo Salah has been unstoppable and he added another goal to his Premier League tally this season by scoring his 15th goal to take what looks to be an unassailable lead in the golden boot race.

Conte will know locking down the Egyptian Prince is going to be pivotal to his squad’s chances of winning.

That, however, is easier said than done.

Prediction: Tottenham 0 Liverpool 1

Suggested Bet: Liverpool head to head at $1.57
