Wangaratta Tips & Previews, Thursday 2nd December

Wangaratta hosts Thursday racing as the BetDeluxe team hunts down the best bets heading towards another big weekend of thoroughbred action.

Wangaratta is where we find our racing playground today with a very warm day predicted for Thursday racing up north of Victoria.

The track will be in the good range with our team coming into this meeting with supreme confidence after some juicy winners at Geelong yesterday.

Wangaratta Race 1

#1 Alpha Male

Alpha Male is ready to thrive third-up into his first preparation as he enters this race with a strong fitness base.

Both his runs to date have been at his home track of Wangaratta, so he has great experience at the course.

The step up to the mile looks ideal for him and the young apprentice Madison Lloyd hops off for the more experienced senior rider in Luke Nolen.

The jockey change is a big sign this horse is going to peak in this race and we can back him with confidence.

Should be able to ascertain and spot on the speed with cover and prove too good for this lot.

Suggested Bet: Alpha Male win at $3

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 4, 10

wangaratta race 2

#10 the cunning fox

The Cunning Fox should be in for a very competitive debut after what we have seen at the jump outs leading into this 1400-metre maiden.

The Patrick Payne-trained three-year-old gelding has had been six jump outs and trials to get him ready for race day.

He enters this race with his most recent jump out looking the best of the lot after finishing third over 1200 metres when asked to settle in the rear half of the field and then extend late in behind his stablemate.

Doubt the barrier will be too much of a problem given he will get back in the run and storm home.

Suggested Bet: The Cunning Fox win at $3.4

Wangaratta Race 4

#7 The Superintendent

The Superintendent might arrive at Wangaratta after a disappointing debut at Bendigo, but he looks much better set up for this race.

Getting back onto a dry track looks key for this three-year-old gelding from the Lindsey Park team.

He was crushed in betting at his first run when more than halving his opening quote from $10 into $4.2.

The soft-rated track is probably what brought him undone after some really slick jump outs leading into it.

He draws a very soft barrier in this race and can atone for that debut failure.

Suggested Bet: The Superintendent win at $4.6

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 7, 8, 14

wangaratta race 6

#4 bellarina Magic

A speedy country sprinter who is going to appreciate getting back onto a good track.

The five-year-old mare acquitted herself well at Wangaratta last start on the soft seven when running third behind the well-backed Kaniva.

Her good track form is where all four of her career wins have come and she seems to be going well enough with last start arguably being the best run she has ever produced on a wet track.

Apprentice Hannah Edgley takes three kilos off the mare’s back which might just be prove the difference at the pointy end of the race.

Suggested Bet: Bellarina Magic win at $3.7

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 4 & 7
