Hamilton Tips & Previews, Monday 22nd November

A new week of racing begins at Hamilton with the best bets and value on the eight-race card.

Monday racing makes is way to Hamilton for an eight-race program with a warm day predicted likely to get us playing on a good track.

With its beautiful long straight, every horse should be able to get their chance.

Our team goes through all the best bets.

Hamilton Race 2

#10 Ahtohallan

Having a very speculative play on connections that barely anyone would have heard of before.

Antohallan trained by James Wardeiner will be ridden by little known jockey Megan Dunseath.

This three-year-old filly was well beaten over 1200 metres last start, but really like the way to map sets out for her in this event.

She is up against much slower horses than she faced last start and looks the likely leader in this event if she can jump cleanly.

Hoping Dunseath can get her rolling again at a moderate tempo in order to save energy for late in the race.

Suggested Bet: Ahtohallan each-way at $13 the win and $3.6 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 6 & 10

Kilmore race 4

#9 Smartlove

Snicked back to last on debut over 1000 metres and was simply run off her feet.

She did a great job to hit the line from as far back as she was after being smashed in the betting.

Like the rise to 1100 metres and drawing the inside barrier which will see her settle much closer to the front.

Huge jockey change as well with John Allen getting on the saddle to replace Teodore Nugent.

This mare should show a stack of improvement from that first-up run and we get the each-way price to have a bet.

Suggested Bet: Smartlove each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.25 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 9, 10, 11

Hamilton race 6

#12 Salsaset

Not too concerned about the losing margins in the jump outs for Salsaset.

She was given a very quiet time of it in both her jump outs when settling out the back and being asked for a response in her most recent effort.

She only plugged away to the line in a very one-paced manner, but she had to make up ground and be hooked the widest runner on a Mortlake track that usually favours leaders.

At Hamilton she will have the length of the 450-metre straight to wind up her finish.

Happy to be with the fresh filly who has no convictions as a race horse just yet.

Suggested Bet: Salsaset each-way at $7 the win and $2.5 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 9 & 12

Hamilton

#5 yarra boy

Was allotted 64kgs when resuming from a spell in BM-58 and he drifted heavily in the market to be very well beaten.

He tumbles down to 59kgs having stepped up in grade and Lindsey Smith has applied the blinkers for the first time.

This race looks to set up much better than his resuming run with a nice barrier also allowing him to find a spot in the run either a pair back behind the leaders or even potentially in the lead.

Making him the best of the day as he looks to elevate from his first-up effort.

Suggested Bet: Yarra Boy win at $2.90
