Monday racing takes us to Scone for the best bets and value on the nine-race program.
Kris Lees looks to have a nice filly go around in the first, while the best of the day comes in race five.
Scone Race 1
#10 Dawnburst
This three-year-old filly showed great tenacity when winning at her resuming run over 1110 metres at Scone.
She fought out a photo-finish and get her nose down on the line to win and now rises to 1300 metres which looks very suitable for her from barrier one.
It looks as though the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-runner Wenet will come across from the middle barrier and take the lead, which should afford Dawnburst with the perfect trailing run on his back.
Jockey Madi Derrick can follow that horse into the straight and then launch this filly’s sprint when she has clear galloping room to do so.
Having an each-way play to stay safe.
Suggested Bet: Dawnburst wach-way at $6 the win and $2.25 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 6 & 10
Scone Race 3
#14 Show me your love
Show Me Your Love has had two trials to get ready for this 1400-metre debut and has looked fairly solid in both.
It was the second trial that stood out after being asked to settle well backed and stay from the tearaway trial leader and eventual winner.
The three-year-old filly made up a stack of ground out wide on the Newcastle trial course and grabbed second spot right on the line.
That trial is going to do her the world of good and it showed us she has the ability to chase horses and run them down.
Barrier seven gives her the opportunity to blend into the race with some cover and Dylan Gibbons has the length of the straight to wind this filly up.
Suggested Bet: Show Me Your Love win at $4.4
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 6, 13, 14
Scone Race 5
#6 Written Sun
Written Sun almost pinched victory on debut over 1300 metres, but just found one horse a bit better after being nabbed right on the line.
Love the step up in distance here as he can control the front again, but comes up against slower horses than he faced last start.
He is going to take a heap of fitness benefit from the first-up effort an should improve that extra two to three lengths he needs to in order to be considered almost unbeatable.
Jockey Winona Costin does not need do anything too drastic in this race.
Just need her to find the lead, count to ten at the top of the straight and let this horse high-ball out in front without slowing down.
Suggested Bet: Written Sun win at $2.10
Scone Race 9
#11 Lady River
Backing in Lady River to elevate after a first-up failure as a $2.3 favourite.
The four-year-old resumed after a three-month spell on October 22 and was very well fancied by the market to resume with a winning run, but it all went pear-shaped for her.
She ended up being beaten by over four lengths but pulled up with soundess issues.
She has since been back to the trials and looked in fantastic order winning at Scone over 900 metres.
Happy to back her in again based on the talent we have seen prior this current campaign and she can easily return to the winning ways.
Suggested Bet: Lady River win at $3.2
Suggested Exotic: Exacta 11 & 12
