Thursday night greyhound racing returns to Sandown Park for the running of the Melbourne Cup Preludes as our greyhound experts go through the best bets.

Sandown Park Race 1

#2 Aussie Secret

Want to be with Aussie Secret here over the short-priced favourite Wow She’s Fast.

The favourite is undefeated and looks to be a future star, but the set up for her is not great given she is racing after 25 days away from the track.

Aussie Secret has the fitness edge over her here.

Furthermore, With Weblec Raider – drawn the immediate inside of our selection – being a somewhat tardy beginner, Aussie Secret can find the lead and find the rails without being impeded.

Have to be on him at the price and he could very well start much shorter than the $3.90 on offer.

Suggested Bet: Aussie Secret win at $3.90

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 8

Sandown park race 2

#3 Riccarton Rick

Riccarton Rick is a genuine Sandown Park specialist who boasts nine wins from and seven placings from his 26 starts at the Sandown Park 515-metre circuit.

With the scratching of Dr Tucker, it brings Riccarton Rick right into contention with the race all his for the taking.

Idolize, who draws directly inside of Riccarton Rick, will hit the lead early, but our selection will get the perfect trail across and can outdo him in the middle stages of the race.

His last two runs at the track have both been superb and he is the one to be with here.

Suggested Bet: Riccarton Rick win at $4.2

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 3/ 2, 5, 8/ 2, 5, 8

Sandown Park Race 5

#6 Lala kiwi

Lala Kiwi is a star chaser.

She ran champion dog Aston Rupee to 3.9 lengths last start and that form is well and truly good enough to win a race like this.

The Andrea Dailly-trained two-year-old bitch has a particular fondness for Sandown having had four starts at the Sandown Park 515-metre track for three wins.

If she can show good muster, as she usually does, then this race could very well be over before it has begun.

Happy to make her the best of the night off her last start effort.

Suggested Bet: Lala Kiwi win at $2.90

Sandown Park Race 6

#8 Jungle Deuce

Has been racing well in Victoria without winning since arriving from NSW.

He was a bit unlucky behind Aston Rupee last start when unable to cross from a wide box.

Looks to get his chance to come across the field from box eight in a weaker field and can easily jump in front on Indy Matilda who is the main threat.

He ran some sparking sectionals in his win at the Meadows three starts back and a repeat of that would render him nearly unbeatable here.

Early money suggests he is travelling well at his kennels and is in good physical condition.

Suggested Bet: Jungle Deuce win at $2.8

Suggested Exotic: First Four – 8/ 1/ 3, 5/ 3, 5, 6

Sandown Park Race 10

#1 Osprey Rose

Happy to forgive Osprey Rose after her last start failure at The Meadows.

She drew box eight on that occasion and resented being outside of runners and not being able to race on the rail.

Comes back to box one which she had great success in two starts back when pinging to the lead, railing up and leaving all in her wake at the Meadows over 525 metres.

She should have no issues dealing with the Sandown track as she is a previous winner here.

Expecting her to find the front and be the one to catch.

Suggested Bet: Osprey Rose win at $4.8

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 2
