Another huge evening of Thursday greyhound action takes us to Sandown Park as we get set for more Melbourne Cup Preludes.
It’s a bumper 12-race card as the BetDeluxe greyhound experts sift their way through the program to find the best best and value.
Sandown Park Race 1
#6 People Get Ready
He is the most talented dog in the field when he puts it all together, so it takes a little bit of trust to back him.
Happy to have a dip at him in this race after an unlucky run in a heat race at Cranbourne over 520 metres.
What sets up well for him here is the dog drawn in box four pinging to the lead and giving him the perfect cart across from box six.
He is armed with some brutal closing sectionals that are capable of blowing this field away should he get the clear air we predict he will get in the run.
Good way to start the night.
Suggested Bet: People Get Ready win at $3.4
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 6/ 1, 4, 7/ 1, 4, 7
Sandown park race 3
#4 Amnesty
Amnesty is airborne at present and will find the front easily if he jumps like he has in his last two starts.
He has shown vicious early speed which has seen him win two races in a row very stylishly.
His runs have been backed up by the clock as well with his wins seeing him post sub 34-second efforts.
If he finds the front with ease, as predicted, they will not be beating him.
Suggested Bet: Amnesty win at $2.2
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 4/ 1, 2/ 1, 2, 3
Sandown Park Race 4
#7 Sandra's Sticker
He is racing in good order at the moment and it is surprising not to see him installed as the favourite despite the class dog of the field being Fernando Frank.
The squeeze box did him no favours last start but he still had the audacity to finish third when chasing home the very smart Kenny The Brute.
Box seven in this race is much a more favourable equation for him here as he should find plenty of space early in the run giving him time to wind up his mid-race burst.
If he comes across to sit at the girth or even crosses Fernando Frank for the lead, he will be super hard to hold out.
Suggested Bet: Sandra’s Sticker win at $2.90
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 7
Sandown Park Race 5
#1 Caroline
This dog could not be going any better at the moment.
Comes to the track where has a 100% strike rate with two runs at Sandown equating to two wins.
Her run at The Meadows on Saturday was very brave when jumping from the awkward box six and having to do all the chasing behind leader and eventual winner Whistling Bullet.
Box one is perfect for her here and she can ping the lids, hold the lead and boot clear into the back straight to gain what should be a winning margin.
Making her the best of the night based on what she has produced at Sandown in the past and a clear liking for the track.
Suggested Bet: Caroline win at $3.3
Sandown Park Race 8
#2 Handsome Rhino
Aston Rupee is clearly the best dog in the field, but Handsome Rhino has the benefit of not having a break between runs.
The Paul Galea-trained chaser put in a very bold effort behind Fernando Frank from box eight last week and can go a few spots better than that fourth-place finish.
Box two should see him settle on the speed and looks to get a nice run in behind Aston Rupee who might a little bit soft late in the run having missed 20 days of racing after being beaten in the Adelaide Cup.
Happy to have an each-way a spec on at a nice price.
Suggested Bet: Handsome Rhino each-way at $7 the win and $1.9 the place.
