Moonee Valley Tips & Previews, Saturday 23rd October

Cox Plate Day! The best bets ahead of the nine-race card from Moonee Valley with the running of $5,000,000 Cox Plate.

Group 1 racing at Moonee Valley continues.

The BetDeluxe crew finds the best bets and value propositions ahead of a huge slate of Cox Plate day action.

Moonee Valley Race 1

#6 Bemote

Shocked not to see Bemote come up favourite in the early market for the 2021 Inglis Banner.

The two-year-old filly showed great dash and early speed in her two jump outs to get her ready for her debut, but it was most recent jump out that has us excited.

She was asked to do a bit of work up the hill in the 800-metre jog she had at Caulfield and she let down really nicely late in the piece when her jockey pushed the button to slip her some rein.

Craig Newitt should able to jump cleanly from the inside barrier, tag the back of Equiovcal, find an out and then press the go-button at the top of the straight to produce this filly’s nice turn of foot.

The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr. stable is flying with its juveniles at present and this girl looks like she will add to the already impressive tally of spring carnival winners.

Suggested Bet: Bemote win at $4.4

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 6/ 16, 17/ 1, 10, 16, 17

Moonee valley race 5

#2 heresy

She was heavily tried in the betting to win the Thousand Guineas but came up well short being beaten by over 10 lengths.

This race looks much easier for her and looks as though the forecast ran and soft track will suit her perfectly given her only win was on soft going.

Damien Oliver has opted to stick with this three-year-old filly which is an indication she has pulled up fine from the last-start failure.

Will enjoy a perfect run-in-transit from barrier six with Oliver to keep a pair or two off the leaders in the ideal stalking role so can use her acceleration late in the race.

Suggested Bet: Heresy win at $3.10

Moonee Valley Race 8

#12 Floating Artist

Stable and jockey got it completely wrong in the Coongy Cup last start when he was ridden to slow out in the lead with an eye on keeping him fresh for the Caulfield Cup should he have won that race.

He pops up in the Moonee Valley Cup, which looks a race void of early speed on paper with the lead up for grabs.

Fully expecting Teodore Nugent to take the initiative and skip along out in front to use this stayer’s superior fitness base  in a much more effective manner than last start.

This horse has shown his ability to handle the tight-turning Moonee Valley circuit which is a critical factor.

He brings the best form and ratings into race and is the clear top selection.

Suggested Bet: Floating Artist win at $3.2

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 7, 10 ,12, 13

Moonee Valley RAce 9

#9 Anamoe

A freak three-year-old colt who has the capability of giving Godolphin and James Cummings their first ever Cox Plate.

Will only have to carry the lightweight of 49.5kgs which will mean he can use use his incredible sustained speed to great effect.

If he can settle and repeat the amazing 500 to 600-metre burst he showed to win the Caulfield Guineas then he is in this race big time.

Doubt the rain will hold him down either having already won on a soft track in his career.

Suggested Bet: Anamoe win at $4.4

Suggested Exotic – (PUNTERS PICK) : Trifecta 9/ 1/ 6
