We begin the week with Monday racing from Mornington.
The team from BetDeluxe is on the hunt for the best bets and value ahead of another big week of thoroughbred action across the country.
Mornington Race 1
#8 Asternishing
The Mick Bell-trained Asternishing strikes a very winnable race after a solid enough run at Flemington last start over 1800 metres.
He got too far back in a race that detached the backmarkers from the leaders making in a near impossible task to make up ground and win.
The rise to 2460 metres sees him come up against arguably the weakest and slowest opposition he has faced in his career.
That will allow to take him up a much closer position in the run in order to his the sprint and dash in his young legs to clear out from his opposition.
Suggested Bet: Asternishing win at $2.5
Suggested Exotic: Exacta – 8 & 6
Mornington race 3
#12 Mesa Bella
Mesa Bella was ridden very quietly in her most recent jump out behind current favourite Alverdun.
The three-year-old filly looked like she had plenty in reserve when crossing the finish line as Alverdun was slightly ridden to win the jump out.
When are yet to see what she can truly show with this being her debut and her jump out jockey not asking her to be fully extended.
She showed great professionalism in the jump out by traevlling strongly on the bridle and presenting a nice head carraige in the run.
Barrier one should see her get the ideal drop on the leaders, but she will need a little bit of luck at the top straight as jockey Brian Park searches for a way clear.
Each-way all day at the price.
Suggested Bet: Mesa Bella each-way at $6 the win and $2.25 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 11, 12
Mornington race 4
#11 Shoal bay
Shoal Bay will need a bit of fortune from the wide barrier, but she has shown enough at the jump outs to suggest she is in for a huge showing on debut.
The three-year-old filly is a beautifully bred Sebring and has been given two jump outs to get ready for this race over 1200 metres.
She jumped really cleanly in her most recent Flemington jump out over 800 meters and travelled like a smart horse in the run after settling just off the leaders and taking cover.
Love the way she held her ground to the post without any riding and with a bit of riding might just have very well won the jump out with ease.
Expecting the stable to instruct Patrick Moloney to go forward on this horse from the wide barrier and try to find a spot with cover on the speed on a track the favours on-pace horses.
Suggested Bet: Shoal Bay win at $4
Mornington race 5
#6 Night Guy
Bombed the start at Mornington October 7 and was never a winning hope when start a $9 elect in BM-58 grade.
He had been building towards a good run and look well on his way to running his first each-way race for his new stable an can definitely bounce back here in a fairly weak race.
Barrier four gives him Blaike McDougall the opportunity to hunt up from the inside barrier, should the pair jump cleanly.
If does not blow the start he can run a good race at each-way odds.
Suggested Bet: Night Guy each-way at $11 the win and $3.5 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 6/ 1, 2, 6, 7, 8/ 1, 2, 6, 7, 8
