Horsham hosts its feature event with Horsham Cup Day taking us into Sunday country racing in Victoria.
As usual, our horse racing form guru ‘The Punters Prince’ is all over the best bets and value on what is a cracking card of racing despite the wet weather.
Horsham Race 1
#12 Salt award
Did not show a hell of a lot at her jump outs, however, make doubt, she will be geared up to run a big race on debut for local trainer Paul Preusker.
This three-year-old filly is sired by Shamus Award, so the 1400 metre starting point, for breeding suggesting she will be a middle distance horse, is perfect.
Dean Holland is riding in good form and he can position up perfectly from barrier five to give this filly the run of the race.
Suggested Bet: Salt Award each-way at $7 the win and $2.25 the place
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 3, 4, 6, 8
Horsham Race 3
#6 Inebriating
Finally strikes a very winnable maiden.
Nick Ryan has placed this three-year-old filly perfectly in a race that is devoid of speed which will allow her to stroll freely to the lead and control this race.
Horsham is a tight-turning track with a small home straight that usually favours leaders who get a picnic up front and that is what we expect here.
Fitness on her side, early speed and in-form jockey will make her hard to catch.
Suggested Bet: Inebriating win at $3.3
Horsham Race 7
#6 Orleans Rock
Paul Preusker gets another great chance to win his home-town cup with Orleans Rock.
This gelding might not be in winning form, but, on paper, he brings the best credentials into this race.
His last few starts have been a bit unlucky after getting back from wide barriers and running on, then being held up at critical stages of his races.
This race gives him the opportunity to blend in, three wide with cover and have full momentum approaching the home straight.
Suggested Bet: Orleans Rock win at $3.4
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 6/ 1, 5/ 1, 5
Horsham Race 8
#12 Night passage
Sticking with the winning form of Night Passage in this race who looks to get the perfect suck-run in behind the favourite Riot and Rose.
Night Passage and Riot And Rose are both drawn the outside, but it looks the McEvoy-trained mare will taking the sit in behind her danger who will likely have to cut the breeze with no cover.
Our selection also has the fitness edge over the Peter Moody runner who is resuming from a spell.
Suggested Bet: Night Passage win at $2.9
