Randwick Tips & Previews, Saturday 16th October

The Punter's Prince delves into the 10-race program at Randwick for the best bets ahead of Everest Day.

The Punter’s Prince goes through Randwick card ahead of Everest Day.

It’s a big 10-race program with a heap of best bets and value to be found on the richest card in Australian racing.

Randwick Race 3

#2 Ahead Start

Excited to see Ahead Start line up in this race.

His first-up effort at Randwick over 1000 metres in Class 3 will have him ripe for this second-up attempt over 1100 metres from a very soft barrier.

He has since had a trial in between runs over 920 metres on a heavy track and Moruya to get his fitness to come on even more than it is did after the resuming run.

James McDonald is booked and he is riding in excellent form after a treble on Wednesday at Warwick Farm.

Expecting him to be very positive from the inside barrier here in order to land a pair back behind the leaders so he can save this sprinter’s turn of foot for late in the race.

Suggested Bet: Ahead Start win at $2.8

Suggested Exotic: Boxed First Four – 2, 4, 8, 9, 12

Randwick race 6

#5 Big Parade

Big Parade is turning into a stable marvel for Mark Newnham.

The five-year-old gelding toughed it out with 61kgs on his back at Randwick in BM-94 grade last start to win by a neck when staving off the heavily-backed Gravina.

He now gets down in the weights to 58.5kgs for a the rise in grade and he draws the perfect barrier where he can find the lead without spending too many petrol tickets.

Predicting him to improve again after his last start was a month between runs.

The lead looks to be his for the taking and with that expected fitness improvement to come, it is hard to see them getting past him in the home straight.

Suggested Bet: Big Parade win at $3.3

Randwick Race 7 - The Everest

#12 Home affairs

Home Affairs give us a real Yes Yes Yes vibe.

The three-year-old colt zipped away to win the Heritage Stakes (1100m) after being given a peach of a ride in the lead by Nash Rawiller.

He will carry the lightweight of 53kgs here and gets the services of big-time jockey Glen Boss.

With a heap of early speed in the race to be set by stablemate Nature Strip and Eduardo, Boss is going to have the ideal trailing run-in-transit from barrier six.

Chris Waller would have left a heap up the sleeve of this horse in preparation for this race after the first-up win.

Any spike from his resuming effort will see him run a huge race in this $15,000,000 event.

Suggested Bet: Home Affairs each-way at $10 the win and $3.3 the place

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 12

Randwick Race 9

#4 Fun Fact

He was absolutely butchered by Josh Parr last start.

The horse is flying at the moment but was given a stinker of a ride when being asked to continually press forward and work incredibly hard into a head wind at Randwick over 2400 metres.

He was still battling below the 100-metre mark and eventually faded out to run third.

Draws barrier four in this event and that should allow Parr to either stride to the lead without having to do a heap of work on the horse, or he can take the sit in behind the leaders should it get too hot up front.

Suggested Bet: Fun Fact each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.4 the place

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 4, 9 ,14
