Cranbourne hosts its feature night meeting for the season with the running of the Pinker Pinker Plate.
The Wizard of Odds has gone through his best bets and value ahead of the nine-race card on Friday as we charge into a massive weekend of Group 1 racing.
Here’s hoping we can make a nice little kitty!
Cranbourne Race 2
#10 Telecaster
Telecaster is ready to run a big race on debut.
The Vanbrugh-bred three-year-old gelding has had three very solid hit outs at the jump outs with his most recent being the pick of the bunch.
He was reefed to the rear from a wide barrier and allowed to pick places through the field when entering the straight.
Was not really asked to do much in the straight and went to the line under barely any riding.
Really liked the pick-up she showed in the middle section of her jump out, responded well to being slipped a bit of rein which is a great sign in a juvenile horse.
In-form jockey Daniel Moor takes the ride from barrier five and expect him to either find the lead or sit one-pair back off the fence.
Suggested Bet: Telecaster win at $3.1
Suggested Exotic: Exacta 10 & 12
Cranbourne race 4
#3 Lucamor
Lucamor is bred to be at his best when racing at 2000 metres and beyond.
A four-year-old gelding by staying sire Lucas Cranach, he has been building nicely towards a big run and enters this 2000-metre maiden with two solid efforts over shorter distances.
His debut over 1300 metres was honest enough and then he stepped up to 1600 metres at Swan Hill where he had circumstances against thanks to being posted wide.
This race sets up much more gracefully for him with four providing Jordan Childs the chance to find a spot on the speed.
Looks ready to win and we get an each-way price to find out.
Suggested Bet: Lucamor each-way at $8 the win and $2.2 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed First Four – 1, 2, 3, 11
Cranbourne Race 6
#8 tanker
He was ridden upside down at Flemington last start when he jockey Matthew Cartwright opted to snick back to the rear of the field instead of going forward.
His fate was sealed with that decision as he struggled to make up ground out wide on a course that favoured horses on the rail and on or near the lead speed.
John Allen has been booked to ride now and his positive riding style should see this horse find the lead on what is a perfect track for leaders.
Each-way all day as expect him to improve sharply in this race.
Suggested Bet: Tanker each-way at $8 the win and $2.6 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 4, 8/ 4, 8, 9/ 4, 8, 9, 10, 13
Cranbourne race 7
#9 Swindon lass
Swindon Lass is racing in a rich vein of form and looks set to run another cracker in this $100,000 Pinker Pinker Plate.
She as just nutted out in a photo by Tripodi on a soft seven surface, but races on the quick back-up here.
She has clearly come on leaps and bounds after that runner-up finish and any improvement on that Moonee Valley effort over 2040 metres will see her in the finish here.
Barrier three will see her settle in the first four and prove the one to run down as they head into the straight.
Another nice each-way bet.
Suggested Bet: Swindon Lass $6.5 the win and $2.3 the place.
