Geelong Racecourse welcomes midweek racing to its surroundings.
The Wizard of Odds has run his eye over the program and found his best bets ahead of a solid eight-race program from down the highway.
Geelong race 1
#15 Delicious Tycoon
Predicting the market to really warm to this three-year-old filly from the Matt Laurie stable.
She was expected to go much closer than she did on debut back on April 6 at Bendigo over 1100 metres.
The sprinter performed well below what the betting suggested would be a big debut run after being smashed in the beting from $3.6 into $2.5 just before the jump.
Laurie has since spelled her and she looks to have come back in nice order after a quiet trial on a heavy track at Cranbourne over 800 metres.
She will make a much better fist of it in this race than she did back in April.
Suggested Bet: Delicious Tycoon win at $4.4
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 4 & 15
Geelong race 4
#7 Maincourt
Going to have ignore the current form to date of Maincourt and trust the instinct on this one.
The four-year-old gelding by Spring Champion winner Hampton Court looks a one-pacer who will need a Jericho Cup distance over 4600 metres to be competitive.
September 19 meeting at Ballarat marked the day where he stood up to 2000 metres in only his second career start and he was subsequently thrashed.
The key for this galloper is the addition of blinkers.
He beat home nearly half the field last start in a race where he was 11 lengths off the eventual winner.
Worth an-each way speck with a rise in distance to 2400 metres.
Suggested Bet: Maincourt each-way at $31 the win and $6 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta -1, 3, 7, 11
Geelong race 7
#3 Narvaez
The Gai Watehouse-trained Narvaez is ready to win after a respectable resuming run at Sandown back on September 1.
He showed great early speed to lead over 1200 metres in BM-70 grade on that occasion and now finds himself with a soft speed map with a rise in distance to 1400 metres.
The Waterhouse stable is quite simply in stellar form at the moment any improvement out this galloper’s last start rating it will see him winning this race easily.
Doubt the weight will be an issue given the fitness benefit he will derive from the first-up run.
Suggested Bet: Narvaez win at $2.4
Geelong race 8
#9 Pankhurst
Pankhurst looks a very progressive four-year-old mare from the Matthew Williams stable who has been given time to furnish as a race horse.
She had shin soreness upo her arrival to Australian shores from New Zealand, but put any issues aside with an ultra impressive debut run over 1400 metres at Casterton.
She bounded away from her inside barrier, took a sit just in behind the leaders and then let down with a lovely turn of foot to win hard held at the post.
The rise to 1755 metres likes ideal given the way she powered through the line on debut and she can easily make it two wins from two starts.
Suggested Bet: Pankhurst each-way at $5 the win and $2 the place.
