Sandown Park Greyhound Tips & Previews, Thursday 23rd September

Tips and previews from the big Thursday night card at Sandown Park.

Sandown Park takes centre stage for Thursday night greyhound racing.

The best bets ahead of a big 12-race card.

Sandown Park Race 1

#6 My buddy Benny

Backing My Buddy Benny to knock off both Ridge and Ring a Ranger.

He is in great winning form at the moment with his last four starts producing three victories.

His two most recent runs have resulted in wins with success at Sandown and Cranbourne.

It is his Sandown win that will be the centre of attention after he recorded a 29.61 run which is far superior to what Ridge and Ring a Ranger produced in their most recent Sandown efforts.

Expecting him to start much shorter than his current quote.

Suggested Bet: My Buddy Benny win at $4.2

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 6

Sandown park race 2

#1 persian goddess

Persian Goddess continues to go from strength to strength as he heads towards this Vic Bred Series Final.

The Ben Joske-trained dog has registered two slashing wins at Sandown over the 515 metres at her two most recent starts.

The most impressive of those was her effort four days when pinging the lids, scorching her way to the lead and leaving her rivals to chase her tail.

The start of her races was the only knock on her as a greyhound, but now that she has that sorted, she could progress to be a serious contender in some of the bigger races at Group level.

Clear on top selection and is the best of the night.

Suggested Bet: Persian Goddess win at $2.3

Sandown Park Race 4

#4 Gypsy Wyong

Gypsy Wyong served us well last week after getting us the chocolates when winning by a head at Sandown over 715 metres last week.

She faces one of the best staying dogs in the land at the moment in the form of Mepunga Ruby, but she has the set up to defeat her.

Mepunga Ruby has had a 19-day gap between runs, which leave us with a bit of query surrounding her fitness.

Gypsy Wyong, however, backs up after her win last week and is in career best form.

The Andrea Dailly-trained chaser also maps to lead this race and the advantage she gains early in the race with her early speed might just prove the race-winning move.

Suggested Bet: Gypsy Wyong win at $2.7

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 4/ 2/ 1, 8

Sandown Park Race 8

#7 Lakeview Walter

Lakeview Walter put in a brave performance behind Aston Rupee who is arguably the best dog in the country at the moment.

Monique Whelan prepares this Group 1 winning chaser for his fourth run back from a spell and he is building towards a peak run this campaign after three solid runs.

He chased hard in second the whole way around the Sandown Park 515-metre circuit with that effort being his first over the distance this preparation after running in 400-metre and 440-metre events.

There does not luck to be an abundance of early speed underneath him either in this race and he should be able to cross easily from box seven.

Suggested Bet: Lakeview Walter win at $2.6

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 6, 7

Sandown Park Race 12

#2 Rebel May Road

Heavily against the favourite here who has to contend with nearly a month-and-a-half away from racing as well as a step up to 515 meters for the first time in her career.

Rebel May Road looks the one to be with here.

He has a solid fitness base and draws an inside box which will assists his rails hunting tendency.

He will need a bit of early room to get his motor going in the race and with a slower dog drawn inside of him, expect him to rail up early and find clear running as he attempt to chase down the favourite who will be gasping for air in the last 50 metres.

Suggested Bet: Rebel May Road win at $5

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 4
