Horsham Tips & Previews, Monday September 20th

The Wizard of Odds begins the week for punters with his best bets from Horsham.

Horsham hosts Monday racing as we charge towards another big week of thoroughbred action.

The Wizard of Odds has found the best bets in attempt to cure any Monday-itis!

Horsham Race 1

#7 Miss Field

Big fan of what Miss Field has produced at her jump outs leading into this resuming run.

She looks to have a comeback a much stronger horse in her three-year-old year after winning her first jump out on September 2 at Ararat over 850 metres and then finishing second in her most recent jump out over 880 metres at Casterton.

The Lindsey Smith-trained sprinter looked to travel beautifully on the bridle and will be fit enough to run a big race upon resuming.

Draws out in gate seven, but with the speed she showed in her jump outs, expect jockey Declan Bates to settle her in a nice position handy to the speed or even leading.

Suggested Bet: Miss Field win at $3.9

Horsham Race 3

#2 Watch Hill

Watch Hill steps out on his home track after putting together two solid runs in his first two career races.

The Paul Preusker-trained gelding has gone from 1000 metres on debut to 1200 metres last start and now rises to 1400 metres which looks ideal.

His most recent race start, which was a 1200-metre effort at Swan Hill, saw him very well backed $4 elect in the market.

He was bursting for a run at the top of straight, but was unable to find clear galloping room until about 300-metre mark.

He launched through a gap between horses and powered to the line stylishly, but was unable to reel the in the leaders who were in the better of the track and has full momentum.

Think the rise to 1400 metres will see him settle in the first four and he will prove the one to beat.

Suggested Bet: Watch Hill win at $2.4

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 2/ 4, 9, 12/ 4, 9, 12

Horsham Race 7

#8 Tsugaru

Tsugaru has been luckless at his first two runs this campaign and now strikes a winnable race with a few important changes to his set-up.

Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace have stepped him in grade which of no concern given he should have already won at BM-58 level this preparation, so he gets some sort of weight relief.

Most importantly, though, the stable has taken off the apprentice and booked in gun senior hoop John Allen to pilot this horse to victory.

His strength and balance will ensure this horse is in clear air at the stop of the straight and every chance at running down the leaders.

Suggested Bet: Tsugaru win at $3

Suggested Exotic: Exacta – 6 & 8

Horsham Race 8

#4 Hendrika

Hendrika scored her first win for her new stable last start and looks set to go on with it in this BM-58 event despite rising in weight.

The newly acquired mare to the Andrew Bobbin stable won by just under a length at Mildura over 1400 metres a fortnight ago after carrying 58kgs and now is set with the task of carrying 62kgs under the urgings of Dean Yendall.

That weight impost will likely be offset by the fitness benefit she derives from her last start and she draws a soft inside barrier to give her the best possible chance at winning again.

Suggested Bet: Hendrika win at $2

Suggested Exotic: Exacta – 4 & 6
