Sandown Park Greyhound Tips & Previews, Thursday 16th September

Tips and previews from the big Thursday night card at Sandown Park.

Sandown Park takes centre stage for Thursday night greyhound racing.

The best bets ahead of a big 12-race card.

Sandown Park Race 1

#1 Moriah Bale

Moriah Bale and Enemy Within go head to head in this race, but our pick looks the superior value.

Mark Giddings prepares his two-year-old bitch for this 515-metre event after two solid runner-up finishes in more difficult races than she faces tonight.

Enemy Within was a smart winner last start in maiden final, however he defeated inferior opposition to what Moriah Bale has been racing against.

We should get the map advantage early in the race as well with Moriah Bale possessing a touch more early speed than Enemy Within.

If she runs the 29.62 time she did last start then we should be off to collect our winnings.

Suggested Bet: Moriah Bale win at $2.5

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1/ 2/ 4, 6

Sandown park race 2

#6 western blazer

This is going to be a battle of who crosses first between Western Blazer and Hamillson.

Both scored slick victory at Sandown over 515 metres 10 days ago, but it is Western Blazers who represents the value in this event.

He started a $2.10 elect in the main lead-up to this Mixed 6/7 final after running up the straight at Healesville over 300 metres.

The knock on him heading into his last start victory was his capability at handling the extra distance.

He proved his doubters wrong with a strong front-running display and his fitness will only improve from that run.

Suggested Bet: Western Blazer win at $4.2

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 4 & 6

Sandown Park Race 4

#4 Gypsy Wyong

Gypsy Wyong continues to step up to the plate and knock them out of the park as she showed us in her brilliant win at The Meadows over 725 metres on Saturday.

The Andrea Dailly-trained star ran a very sharp 42.56 on her way to victory and now returns to Sandown in winning form.

Her last start at the track was a second placed finish behind Run Like Jess over 595 metres where she found her conqueror just a little too slick.

An enormous factor in her favour here is the small field.

It will allow her to stride out freely and find the front much earlier than usual.

The other factor in her favour is her main challenger in the form of Bobby The Brute is yet to win over 700 metres.

Suggested Bet: Gypsy Wyong win at $2

Sandown Park Race 7

#8 Untapped

Everyone saw how unlucky Aston Ulysses was last start and he is looks to be priced on the fact he should have won rather than what he will produce in this race.

As such, we are siding with Untapped who scored an enormous win at this track over 595 metres only four days ago.

The most impressive facet of her triumph was the early speed she showed from the lids and her ability to sustain it to the finish post.

The outside box will be of no concern given how fast away she jumps when the boxes open and it is proven in her record when wearing the pink jacket.

She has had four tries from box eight for three wins and looks the clear on top selection in this event.

Suggested Bet: Untapped win at $2.30

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 8/ 3/ Field

Sandown Park Race 8

#1 Invictus Rising

Invictus Rising will just need an ounce of luck early in this race to be causing a massive headache for that favourite Fernando Bluey.

He is armed with an explosive finish when the gaps appear for him and with Fernando Bluey being drawn out wide, it might just prove the perfect cart he needs into the race.

The Garry Slekrig-trained chaser has drawn less than ideal boxes at his last four starts, but he has shown how brave he is by finishing no lower than runner-up during those runs.

He is a dog that loves hunting the rail from box one and with five starts registering four wins in his 24-race career when donning the red jacket he is a serious winning hope in this Free For All event.

Suggested Bet: Invictus Rising win at $2.90
