Cranbourne Tips & Previews, Sunday September 12th

The Wizard of Odds caps off a big weekend of racing with his best bets from a competitive Cranbourne card.

The Wizard of Odds ends the weekend with his best bets from Cranbourne.

There is plenty of value to be found early and later on in the card.

Cranbourne Race 2

#9 Bedford Estate

Enjoyed what Bedford Estate put together at his jump out and trial prior to resuming his racing after a let up.

He cleared away like a smart horse in his 1170-metre trial after being put under light riding.

The three-year-old colt by staying sire Tavistock debuted as a two-year-old in a high rating race from Werribee and acquitted himself well.

He ran third of 11 runners and was beaten four lengths, but his best form will be at 2000 plus metres based on his breeding.

There looks to be a fair bit of early pace in this race which may not favour the current favourite Cuban Link.

Bedford Estate should find a perfect stalking run just in behind the leaders which will see Jye Mcneil peel out in the straight to make his winning dash.

Suggested Bet: Bedford Estate win at $3.9

Cranbourne Race 3

#7 Prowling

Really warming to the debut run of Prowling who looks set to break his maiden status in this race.

He was a drifter in the market, but still ran up to his nice jump outs heading into his 1200-metre run at Sandown.

The Greg Eurell three-year-old gelding did really well to hold on for third after working hard to sit outside the lead early in the race.

That run is going to do him the world of good and expect anywhere between three to four lengths of improvement from a fitness point of view.

Not sure how he gets beaten here and is clearly the best of the day.

Suggested Bet: Prowling win at $2.10

Cranbourne Race 4

#9 La Zucca

La Zucca looks to be the sharpest horse in this field and should be a winner after running this race.

The four-year-old mare made her debut earlier in May this year where she was run down by Huskisson over 1200 metres at this course.

She was then sent to the spelling paddock and returns here off a 900-metre Mornington jump out where she showed a nice turn of foot in what was a solid piece of work.

Doubt her main rival in Major Impact as the capacity to run has a strong of a 1200-metre race as her which is why she clearly rates on top in this maiden event.

Suggested Bet: La Zucca win at $2.9

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 6 & 9

Cranbourne Race 8

#9 Hopkins

Hopkins has been the horrible victim of circumstance at his last two starts having to be nicked back to near last after drawing wide barriers.

He has put in two sensational runs from the rear half of the field to finish runner-up behind winners who had a far easier time of it than him.

His last start at similar distance and course was a big eye-catching run after he looped the field and crushed the line.

Barrier three should allow jockey Craig Newitt to find a very handy spot close to the leaders and will use his residual fitness to run another a career best rating.

Suggested Bet: Hopkins win at $3.7

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 9/ 4, 6, 10/ 4, 6, 10
