The Meadows Greyhounds Tips & Previews, Saturday 11th September

It's off to The Meadows for the tips and preview of Saturday night greyhound racing in Victoria.

Green light on, bunny rolls and we’re off and racing.

The best bets for Saturday night greyhound racing at The Meadows.

The Meadows Race 1

#4 Kanji Height

Kanji Height has fitness and form on his side as he heads to town for a Saturday run at The Meadows.

Andrea Dailly prepares this dog who races on the three-day back up after leading all the way on Wednesday at this track over 525 metres and running a time of 30.10.

The run was clearly a wrung below the start dogs in Australia, but she has been placed perfectly here with her main rivals facing gaps between runs.

Box four should not be of concern given the early speed he showed on Wednesday.

Suggested Bet: Kanji Height win at $3.4

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 4

The Meadows Race 2

#3 Soda Saville

Soda Saville has two dogs drawn inside of him that have little early speed which will suit him perfectly.

He is a very talented dog who was caught in an awkward spot last start when missing the kick as the lids opened and always being at the rear of the field.

Love the way he continued to fight towards the finish line and that run should do him the world of good given it was his first effort over 525 metres in two months.

Ashlee Terry has built him up with a good base of fitness now to ensure he runs out this distance strongly and he should be able to land closer to the lead than he did last start.

If he is within striking distance at the first bend, his mid-race surge and finish will be stronger than the rest of this field.

Suggested Bet: Soda Saville win at $2.3

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Exacta 4 & 2

The Meadows Race 5

#3 Keep it black

Keep It Black is racing in great form and broke through for his 11th career victory when winning at The Meadows over 525 metres last start.

He jumped well from box eight on September 1, settled on the speed and then scorched away to win by nearly five lengths.

The main threat to his winning hopes is Isolation who is drawn inside of him, but should afford our pick with a lovely trailing run into the race.

Expecting Keep It Black to probe through with his sights on Isolation’s tale heading into the first bend, then taking over in the back straight and final bend to score victory.

Suggested Bet: Keep It Black win at $3.9

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 3, 4

The Meadows race 6

#7 Lala Kiwi

Lala Kiwi to knock off the red hot odds-on favourite in Fernando Bluey.

We have to forgive her effort here last week as she is a serious greyhound worthy of a wager in this race.

She started a $3.90 elect in a heat of this final race last week and was never really in the hunt despite being like by the market.

That starting price is what stand out and now we get better odds to find out if she can return to her best – which would be good enough to beat the favourite.

If she crosses is within a length or two of Fernando Bluey at the first bend she is going to give this race a serious shake.

Suggested Bet: Lala Kiwi win at $4.8

The Meadows Race 8

#1 Mepunga Ruby

Mepunga Ruby is all-star stayer in all-star form and is the deserved favourite in this race.

She raced in an absolute dog’s breakfast of the main heat for this $35,500 event in a race that changed complexion about four times in the last 50 metres.

The Jeffrey Britton-trained chaser was baring down on the leaders towards the final bend, got severely checked and then some how found a way to win as the leader stopped and cause carnage in the home straight.

Only special dogs can do what she did in that race.

She is now drawn to get a much better time of it from the cherry box and should be winning this on her way to to the big Group 1 staying events over the next few months.

Suggested Bet: Mepunga Ruby win at $2
