Swan Hill Tips & Previews, Friday September 10th

The Wizard of Odds goes through the best tips and preview for the Friday meeting from Swan Hill.

Swan Hill plays hosts to Friday racing a we get set for a huge weekend of Group 1 action.

The Wizard of Odds is ready to whet the appetite with his best bets.

Swan Hill Race 1

#5 Are You gold enuff

The market has sided heavily with Super Thief, but looks to have gone too far one way and in that case we will oppose the move and go with Are You Gold Enuff who represents good value on debut.

She is a four-year-old mare who comes into this maiden event off some nice jump out form for trainer Nick Ryan who had a double on Feehan Stakes Day at Moonee Valley last weekend.

His stable is going particularly well and this mare can easily continue the winning trend after showing a heap of early speed to lead and win in her synthetic jumpout at Flemington over 800 metres.

Jockey Rhys McLeod will likely look to spear across from the wide gate, take the ascendancy early and try to catch a winning break at the top of straight.

Suggested Bet: Are You Gold Enuff win at $2.9

Swan Hill Race 2

#12 Playing It safe

Playing It Safe will, simply put, just win this race.

She put in a solid effort on her debut run behind Gummy Bear when settling last off a crawling tempo and hitting the line strongly on a heavy track.

She ran some very nice closing sectionals to suggest the rise to 1200 metres will be ideal for her as well as the addition of a dryer track which will allow us to see her best.

Barrier 12 will probably work in favour for jockey Harry Coffey here as it will allow this three-year-old filly to be in clear air and with full momentum rather than having to stop and start.

She looks to possess the best turn of foot in this field and should really be winning this race.

Suggested Bet: Playing It Safe win at $2

Swan Hill race 7

#2 Mistake

Having a small each-way wager on Mistake who has a very nice fresh record.

The Greg Osbourne-trained six-year-old gelding is credited with three wins from five first-up efforts and has a nice 1000-metre Tatura trial victory to get him primed for this resuming run from a two-month hiatus.

Apprentice jockey Kiran Quilty will have to navigate a run from a wide barrier, but there does look to be a fair bit of early speed in the race which will hopefully allow her to find a midfield spot with cover.

Happy to take the risk here especially at the double figure each-way odds.

Suggested Bet: Mistake each-way at $13 the win and $4 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 10

Swan Hill race 8

#2 Ocular

Ocular will just needs a touch of luck from the inside barrier to be winning this race after just missing out on a city win last start.

The Shea Eden-trained gelding settled second last in a BM-90 race at Moonee Valley and scooted home late in the race to just be nosed out by winning machine Corner Pocket.

This race looks a clear target event for the stable given he is a VOBIS Gold nominated entrant and will scored extra prize money should he triumphant.

He has a good base of fitness under his belt and has a nice turn of foot.

His main danger is obviously Rainbiel but she might just be a run or two short of her best.

Suggested Bet: Ocular win at $3.5

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 6, 8
