Sandown Park Greyhound Tips & Previews, Thursday 9th September

Tips and previews from the big Thursday night card at Sandown Park.

Sandown Park takes centre stage for Thursday night greyhound racing.

The best bets ahead of a big 12-race card.

Sandown Park Race 1

#6 Enemy Within

Sticking with Enemy Within yet again after he got the prize for us last week in a similar race.

The Jason Thompson-trained dog is a chaser on the rise and his last start victory by over three lengths showed us he is a serious prospect going forward.

This race sets up well for him too with not a lot of early speed predicted allowing to fully utilise his powerful stride.

He ran a personal best of 29.90 last start and any improvement on that will see him near unbeatable in this event.

Suggested Bet: Enemy Within win at $2.80

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 6

Sandown park race 3

#4 Fabriola Ximenez

Fabriola Ximenez comes back to Reserve grade here after nice effort at this track and distance in a G5 event.

He got squeezed up at the beginning of the race and kept fighting to the finish line despite being in the rear half of the field for the entire race.

The smaller field will suit him here and he should have more room from box four than he did last start.

He possesses a short starting price of $3 last time he raced in Reserve grade which was at Ballarat over 450 metres and he ended being the victor.

That starting price must be factored in here and he looks the one to beat.

Suggested Bet: Fabriola Ximenez win at $3.4

Sandown Park Race 4

#7 Collinda Beast

Collinda Beast ran like a beast last week when winning by nearly 10 lengths in the G5 545-metre race he contested in at Ballarat.

He propelled away from the box eight like a rocket, led and ran a slashing 30.72 to record his eleventh career victory.

He draws out wide on the course again here, this time donning the black rug from box seven, and he has the blistering early speed to able to cross and do what we he did last start.

The rise to 595 metres will benefit him as he gets stronger the longer race continues.

His only race at the course and distance was a winning run when recording a sharp time of 34.15.

A repeat of that performance, which is very likely, makes him the one to get through.

Suggested Bet: Collinda Beast win at $2.70

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 7, 8

Sandown Park Race 8

#3 Aston Rupee

There are regular wins and then there are the wins that emulate what Aston Rupee did last start which are reversed for special greyhounds.

If you ever want to see a dog possess the will to win then this Glenn Rounds chaser is the one you want to watch.

He reeled in the very fast Koblenz over 515 metres at Sandown last start after giving him a big hard head start.

His mid-race and late sectionals in the win were astonishing and he ran an incredible 29.22 which is getting close to his 29.06 personal best.

He has had great success jumping from box three with three starts for three wins and he should be making it four from four in this race.

Suggested Bet: Aston Rupee win at $1.55

Suggested Exotic: Triecta – 3/ 4/ 1, 8

Sandown Park Race 9

#5 Mepunga Felix

Mepunga Felix found something akin to his best form last week after running second behind the heavily backed Shantelle Rose.

He jumped from box one in that race and picked his way through the field despite looking awkwardly placed bailed away inside of runners.

The only thing he needs to iron out is his knack of just missing the start ever so slightly which costs him a length or two as it did last start.

A smaller field here should work in his favour and should allow him to have all the running room he needs in order to run to his best.

He has a class edge and superior sprint to this field and will make him the best bet on the program.

Suggested Bet: Mepunga Felix win $2
