We are back at Sandown for Wednesday racing, but this time we head to the Hillside track.
The Wizard of Odds has done his analysis and is back to his boisterous best after a big set of tips from Pakenham.
He is a fan of an un-raced filly in the third and has found good each-way value towards the back end of the card.
Sandown HIllside Race 1
#3 Madame Solario
These smallish fields can often cause blowouts to occur and that is what we will cheer home here with Madame Solario.
She was simply no match for the now city-performed duo Sandy Prince and Sealion who smashed her by nine lengths.
The three-year-old was a wrung below those two horses, but it is interesting to note than Nigel Blackiston applies the blinkers for the first time.
She is a dour type of galloper who was very one-paced to the line last start.
The step up to the 1600 metres should suit her and jockey Alana Kelly hops again to claim three kilos.
Definitely worth an each-way wager.
Suggested Bet: Madame Solario each-way at $16 the win and $5.5 (No Third Dividend)
Sandown Lakeside Race 2
#12 Beaukati
Beaukati is the most intriguing runner on the program despite having never actually run a race.
Trainer Clint McDonald has opted to send this three-year-old straight into a BM-64 affair on debut which shows the opinion he has of this horse.
Her jump outs on August 17th and August 31st highlighted how well she has returned after a series jump outs throughout April and May where she was then subsequently put away to prepare for the spring.
She draws a soft barrier on debut and will have the guidance of the rail to get around the quirky Sandown Hillside track.
This is Zac Spain’s only ride for the so he will be keen to make the most of the barrier by kicking up and attempting to hold an on-pace position to give this filly the best possible chance.
Suggested Bet: Beaukati each-way at $7.5 the win and $2.6 the place
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 11 & 12
Sandown Lakeside Race 5
#2 Brazen Song
Her trial at Cranbourne over 800 metres in preparation for this event showed us she is clearly in fine fettle.
She showed good speed and acceleration to win her August 30th heat and in doing so must considered fit enough to win this race.
Jockey Will Price has a good association with Brazen Song having ridden her to victory winner once before.
Suggested Bet: Brazen Song each-way at $8 the win and $2.7 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 3
Sandown Hillside Race 8
#10 Horrifying
He would have to make the case for the unluckiest horse in Australia at the moment having done nothing but draw horrific barriers at four of his last five starts.
He has drawn the carpark barrier more often than not since 25 April, but he gets his big chance to break through for career victory number three.
He settled an absolute mile back in a 16-horse a field last start and scooted home to make up ground on eventual winner Wicklow Town.
Had he settled closer he arguably would have won,.
Gun in-form senior hoop Brett Prebble has been booked to take the ride and should not too much trouble finding a nice spot in the run from barrier four.
Suggested Bet: Horrifying win at $4.8.
