Horse Racing Tips

Randwick Tips & Previews, Saturday September 4th

We head to Randwick for the best bets with a handful of Group races as Cox Plate favourite Zaaki makes his return to the track.

The Wizard of Odds goes through the best bets ahead of a mammoth 10-race program at Randwick.

Zaaki makes his return to the track, but our man has found the horse who could beat him.

Randwick Race 5

#2 Wild RUler

Not too sure how wound up Nature Strip will be with the 60.5kgs, so we will side with Wild Ruler who looks to have come back in great order.

The four-year-old stallion from the Peter & Paul Snowden stable still looked a horse of untapped potential last campaign, but his latest trial suggests he has come on again.

He raced in Group 1 company alongside some of the best sprinters in the country in the Autumn this year and his latest trial suggests he might just able to pinch a few races this preparation.

He ambled up strongly in his 900-metre effort at Hawkesbury and scored by just under a length without being touched.

He is going to follow Nature Strip every he goes in this race and let us not forget of this stallion’s brilliant winning record at Randwick.

Four wins from four starts at the tracks makes him a red-hot chance in this event.

Suggested Bet: Wild Ruler win at $4.8

Randwick Race 6

#1 Four Moves Ahead

Four Moves Ahead is a three-year-old filly who is ready to win after a solid resuming run last start.

The market gravitated to the John Sargent-trained sprinter at Randwick last start and looked the winner at the top of the straight, but her fitness just gave way late.

Reports from the mounting yard suggested she had a stack of improvement to come with her eye on a Group 1 target this spring.

The wide barrier should not be of too much concern given her early tactical speed and if she improves anywhere between the two to three lengths expected, she will win this.

Suggested Bet: Four Moves Ahead win at $4.4

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 4, 7

Randwick Race 7

#3 Lion's Roar

Half the country is probably going to be on Zaaki, but Lion’s Roar is the one that can knock off the Cox Plate favourite.

The four-year-old gelding has had two trials over 900 metres and 1000 metres to get him ready for this first-up assault over 1400 metres.

He was given a quiet time of it for the majority of his most recent trial prior to being asked for an effort about 150 metres from the line.

Love the way he finished off his last 100 metres and he looks to have come on again heading into this spring campaign.

Kerrin McEvoy should be able to get on the tail of Zaaki and follow him into the race, peel off his back and let down with his finishing burst.

Suggested Bet: Lion’s Roar each-way at $7.5 the win and $2.4 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 3

Randwick Race 8

#2 Cascadian

The baldy faced enigma from Godolphin.

Cascadian is arguable one of the most talented milers in the country, but his inability to convert that talent into consistent wins is what frustrates punters.

This race looks absolutely perfect for him to find that winning form again with the perfect barrier and jockey.

Hugh Bowman will pilot him from barrier three after he scorched home down the outside Randwick in the Winx Stakes (1400 metres).

Goes up to his pet distance of 1600 metres and has this race at his peril should the gaps open up at the top of the straight.

Suggested Bet: Casacadian win at $3.2
